re: How are 4x4 fence posts being set these days…
Posted by Milescb28 on 9/13/25 at 10:58 am to dillpickleLSU
I used the foam to put in another post after Ida loosened up a post set with concrete. I’ve had no problems since. My only suggestion is if you use foam try to make the hole as close to recommended size as possible. If the hole is too big you don’t really have extra foam to secure it better.

Simpson sod in Covington.
Do you do any tractor work as well? Bush hog, food plots etc.
The metal wire in a popping cork saved the day this time.
That’s my first thought. I heard of them going into cowling vents and causing some damage. A buddy I know uses a cowling cover in storage for this reason.
Theories of why outboard wasn’t peeing.
Posted by Milescb28 on 7/21/25 at 9:59 pm
Last time out we take the boat off the trailer and run to our first spot and I couldn’t tell if it was peeing when running at higher speed. I slow down and sure enough it’s not peeing. We never ran shallow or stirred up mud but there was mud in the rubber hose where the water pee outside of the motor.
I hook hose up to engine for about 10 mins after every use.
Any theories on where mud came from?

If you’re going through a land bank for a loan they usually won’t loan money without deeded access to the land.
re: ESPN Commentators

I usually don’t notice the commentator bias but I noticed it last night. Even every little human interest piece was about an Arkansas player. Maybe that’s just part of being on top of the mountain with everyone wanting to be us.
I had one a while back. The rubber gasket around a sewer vent dry rotted and the bird got in that way. I have an attic drop in garage so opened that and bird flew out after an hour or 2.
My lacrosse boots just cracked after about 25 years. I did zero rubber or shoe care to them. I just upgrade to a more insulated pair.
If you have to sweat anything use the yellow MAP not the blue propane tank. Between me and my neighbor I’ve seen various sweat jobs be unsuccessful with propane but MAP gas has done the trick every time.
Probably want to make sure you aren’t double bonded if wiring to the panel. It’s not a problem until it is. This guy explains it better than I can.

re: Generac generator usage and tripped breakers
Posted by Milescb28 on 9/15/24 at 8:33 pm to shoelessjoe
My fridge was doing the same thing on my portable generator with nothing else plugged in. It has GFCI outlets on the generator. I think certain fridge compressors don’t play nice with the ground and cause GFCI to trip. I may have had too long or too small of an extension cord but it didn’t trip the GFCI right away. I did some googling and a possible work around could be to use a plug adapter that switches plug from 3 prong to 2 prong. I didn't love this idea so I’m currently working on using the 30 amp outlet and breaker interlock system to prevent the same problem in the future.
re: Can anyone explain kitchens without any ventilation for the stovetop/range?
Posted by Milescb28 on 8/31/24 at 10:52 am to SlowFlowPro
I renovated my kitchen and removed my microwave vent and no longer have a vent. I may be out of building code. I have not run into any issues without a vent. I do have nothing above my stove and very high cathedral ceilings.
In my experience since doing this a few things I’ve noticed.
I would not set up my stove like the picture you posted. I have a raised bar that is behind my stove. I helps keeps things from falling on my stove and keeps people from getting burned.
I dont fry anything inside my house. I bought a fry daddy and fry everything outside.
Most important in my opinion is if you buy a stove/oven combo pay attention to where the oven vents out to cool off when the oven is turned off. Mine vents at the top back of the stove and gets very hot. It melts anything plastic sitting on the bar behind my stove. I’ve melted plastic lids, candles, plastics pot handles. If you planning on separate stovetop and oven then probably not an issue. They also make ovens that vent in the front to cool off and I think electric ovens are better at venting the heat. I have a gas oven.

I had 60 ft replaced last year for $2900 so your price may be a tad high but we probably live in different areas. Plumber actually found where my previous PVC pipe was pierced by underground utility. Maybe you will be so lucky! Take pictures if they find anything like that bc utility company will usually pay for replacement.

Also look into a fish bag if you haven’t already. I don’t think I want a stringer floating around me out there.

I did a July trip last year. Shark numbers were nuts. I’ve never tried to remove a lady fish from a treble hook so fast in my life! Bone color baits were our best producers. We did not have an overall great day but I did catch my personal best that day on topwater late afternoon.
Thanks for the info. My potassium is low according to my soil samples, however I sent my soil sample last year for my black berries. It’s the same soil makeup and type as my sod except it says to put down 1.5lbs/row. I’m assuming the potassium is probably a bit low for my centipede as well.
Centipede 0-0-60
Posted by Milescb28 on 6/6/24 at 10:56 am
I’m following a monthly program from my local sod company for my centipede lawn. For June it says apply pre-emergent which seem off to me. They basically are saying to apply every 4 months February, June, October. Has anyone tried this approach with decent success. I only ever did an October pre-emergent in the past.
It also recommended a 0-0-60 at 1-2 lbs/1000 sq ft in June and November to help with winter and summer stresses. Anyone tried this?

Anyone with gortex that isn’t water tight go listen to speckled truth podcast with Curtis Graves from Grundens and he explains how to properly care and wash gortex. Pretty interesting and helpful.
