I was wondering if any of y'all had a small, 10' or so, aluminium Jon boat you're wanting to sell? Doesn't need a trailer or motor. I'm just looking for a little boat for my son that will fit on my 12' utility trailer that he can mount a little 5hp or trolling motor on. I've already searched FB marketplace and LA Sportsman.

*If this isn't allowed then please delete and my bad, I know we can't sell on here but I wasn't sure on asking like this.

On another note, my God, does anyone in this state have legal paperwork on a boat? It's absolutely absurd the amount of boats for sale that say bill of sale only, no paperwork. What the hell are you supposed to do with that? And I'm not talking just little boats, even big 18'+ boats with big outboards and trailers with no paperwork. It's crazy.

If you know the right people you can buy a boat with no title on the cheap and have a salvage title pushed through. Normally takes forever.

I don’t know the right people but have seen it done first hand.

How big is your little boy?

10' is really small.

GF and I borrowed a neighbor's 12' to do some work on the pier, 10 minutes in, and she's falling out backwards. That was the end of her help from the boat.

It was funny tho.

Maybe we're just old.

Truth be told, I did launch kinda hard while exiting. It may have added to her instability.

Personally, I would just buy a new one. A 10' job boat is like $1,000. You'll have all the paperwork, it won't leak...yet. And you won't be buying someone else's beat up pos.

If that's out of the budget, you can buy the pelican bass boats for about half that. I've fished out of them before and they are pretty comfortable.

If you do find the boat you want and it doesn't have paper work, AND you know someone that lives in MS, you can have the friend that lives in Mississippi register it and sell it to you. It's pretty easy. They will come out and take a look at the boat and inspect it. just have your friend tell them its an old pond boat that yall have had forever and you want to get it fixed up and registered. they'll give you a hull number and registration. Once that's done just buy it back from your Mississippi friend. Done.

Allegedly.

He's 11. In laws live on a bayou off of a lake and he just needs a little boat to fish out of with a little trolling motor near their pier. I also want to be able to easily toss it on my 12' trailer and still be able to shut the gate.

I've never been in one of those little plastic 2 seater boats. How's the stability compared to a 10' aluminum? They just look kind of cumbersome to load and unload compared to a flat bottom.

Are you opposed to a kayak? A 10’ Jon is very small. I think he’d outgrow it super quick. It’s fine for really small ponds but it’s borderline too small for 2 people to fish out of
ETA: as said probably buying new is not a bad bet. Yes the 10-12’ jons come available but they aren’t worth much so most people just leave them laying around

Academy used to sell small aluminum boats, not sure if they still do or not. But as others posted, you will never find a used one with papers. As soon as you put any sort of motor, electric included, you will need to have it registered with numbers.

I was gonna say you could probably find a brand new one for under 500 but then looked at prices.

Holy shite over 1k for a Jon boat these days? That’s insane

Academy doesn't have any aluminum boats, haven't for quite some time. They might get 1 big one here or there but no stacks of them like before the Chinese plague. The academy baw told me they told him that aluminum boat manufacturers were making ventilators and recently switched back to making boats. Who the hell knows.

There are a few 12’ flats at the La surplus auction this week.

I would certainly go look at them first but one might stay reasonably priced.

Awesome idea! I gave my 13 y.o. a 10’ Alumacraft last year for his birthday.

It came with a 30lb Minn Kota for $500- no papers.

Anywho- we keep it at our camp- he runs juglines with it and has a blast. Our lab-ish cruises around with him.

Best way to grow up IMO.....we came here this afternoon and first thing wanted to do was go in the little boat- he took off with the dog for about an hour or so.

Me neighbor had a 12/36 to fish his crawfish ponds, he sold it and bought a 12' Pelican Bass Raider to run them because its more stable and can carry more stuff. I went with a couple times and they are cmvery stable.

Bass Raider

On highway 44 about 12 miles east of McComb, there is a guy that sells used crap on the side of the road, he had one out there yesterday when I passed, I will see if it is still there tomorrow when I pass and get his number,
I bought one just like it 3 years ago from him for $125????
