Are y’all putting lights on your edc pistols? I’ve never had a light on any of my pistols but a few guys I’ve talked to said it’s a must have for them. Seems bulky and like it would make a lightweight gun heavy.
I’ve been shopping around for a Glock 43x. I want the MOS model because I plan to put a trijicon rmrcc on it. I’ve run across a few that aren’t the MOS, but have upgraded slides with the optic cut out. Just doesn’t have the rail. Im wondering if I’m going to regret getting one without a rail.
I’ll also be getting rid of a Glock 23 with a regular 40 barrel, threaded 40 barrel, 9mm barrel, 3 9mm mags, 3-4 40cal mags, flared magwell, trijicon night sights, 600+ rounds of 40cal ammo, and a we the people holster. In order to fund this new Glock.

I'm anti light on my pistols. Experimenting with a green dot on my sig now and wondering if it's worth the trouble/cost.

I have a light and red dot on my G17 that stays in my truck. Carry a P365 and its bone stock.

I do carry a small edc flashlight next to my edc knife tho.

My primary carry is a g43x with a stream light tlr7 and a holosun rmr. It’s not much different in carry weight or printing with or without but I was used to carrying a Glock 19.

What a crazy thread. No, your friends are idiots and don’t know what they are talking about. Buy an ar, put lights on it and it is way more effective than your edc. I literally can’t think if a reason why I would have a light on an edc, unless I was back overseas. Some of these people will call a car pistol an edc but I have a Glock 17 in my car holster and I carry a 19… different game I guess

I mean my 28 nosler is more effective, considering I could eliminate the “threat” from a long, long ways away, but it’s not really a viable concealed carry weapon.
One of my friends that I talked to is a marine veteran, which doesn’t make him automatically an expert, but I figure he has more experience than I do. I just wanted a few more opinions on it before I go out and buy a light. I’m not concealing an AR though lol

In principle, I don't think a light on a defensive pistol is a great idea.

It almost 100% gives away your position if you are using it while trying to clear an area or find the boogeyman who broke into your house.

Now, if you have the element of surprise and know where the bad guy is before you turn on the light, I can see the benefit.

Ask your Marine veteran friend how he feels about lasers.I have Crimson Trace lasers on 3 pistols,
A lot of people don’t believe in them but I like mine.

I have a light on my 19x and I'll sometimes carry that if I'm wearing thicker clothes like a hoodie. But it's mostly my nightstand gun. My EDC has a Holosun EPS Carry red dot that adds a little size/weight and that's pretty much it.

I was anti light for years until a few months ago. I recently tried a sagax lux 2 holster and I can barely feel the difference. Light and green dot for me now. Also, losing some gut helped

I did, given the fact that I’m a terrible shot with a pistol. I’d say I’m above average with both shotguns and rifles, but I’m dog sh*t with a handgun. So I figured I’d strap a crimson trace to my edc gun and call it a day.
He stated the whole it’ll give your position away thing, but he didn’t say it’s worthless. He doesn’t use them because he’s probably a beast with iron sights though. He said he has lights just incase he can’t see the threat.
I just don’t know if I’ll ever not be able to see the threat. My edc will be for in public. In my home I have a 20ga, no children to worry about coming through the door. If someone comes in they’re getting 3” #2 followed by slugs.
They’ll silhouette with the kitchen light.
I’m solely talking about the out the house pistol.

I’ve always heard the old saying “roaches come out at night” so yes. My EDC gun will have a light. Effective July 4th, my EDC will be a P365X Macro with TLR 7 Sub and an EPS Carry optic.

Almost every gun that could be used in a defensive scenario has or will eventually have a light. Barring things like .22’s, deer rifles, duck shotguns…

Judging by the EDC subreddit, I’m the only person in America without a light (and dot) on an EDC. A lot of people apparently conceal carry some big bulky guns. Plus at least one extra magazine.

No, I want my EDC to be as small and light as possible. When I’m out in public, a self defense situation isn’t going to be clearing houses or a dark city alley facing five gangsters. I don’t walk around in the dark at night in pitch black areas where I’d need multiple magazines and a flashlight.
A self defense situation would be defending myself against a road rager. Or a crackhead at a gas station. Just need a belly gun.

I'd love to have one on mine, if it wouldn't cost so much and ruin holster availability.

I was listing to a podcast a few years ago and the interview subject was an accomplished competition shooter. He mentioned that the scores of whatever kind of handgun match he shot very noticeably clicked up across the board when they started allowing lights on pistols. The extra weight out front helps a lot.

I dont see where a light is ever a bad idea if you can figure out how to tote it.

Exactly. Seems like a light and red dot are the latest tacticool things that everyone must have. I have a light on my bedside pistol but that’s about it. I’m comfortable with tritium for any other situation.

It’s really easy decision, OP.

Do you find yourself out after dark in dimly lit areas with less than desirable humans walking around? If yes, get a light.

One of my carry rigs. Four brothers makes an excellent holster for this setup.

Glock 19 has a tlr. That suck throws light. It is incredible the light output.

I will be picking up a 43x like you. I'll put the rmr on it but I doubt a light makes its way onto it.

I put one on my Xmacro. It’s perfectly comfortable to me and there if I need it. If I need something even smaller, I carry my standard P365.

I always had lights on my bedside guns, but never realized it was practical for CCW until recently. I honestly don’t notice it in the holster, and the extra weight on a compact pistol isn’t going to hurt your shooting.

ETA: I also added a red dot to my Xmacro. I thought it was silly when I first started seeing people do this, but it’s wayy easier to carry than I thought, and it’s very easy to get shots on target quickly. I don’t practice as much as I should but noticed an immediate improvement with how quickly I could get shots on target. My wife practices less than I do, but I realized how beneficial a dot would be for her, so I put one on her P365 as well.
