Looking for suggestions on Whitetail hunting clothes.

Want to buy a nice base layer set.

Also Nice outer layer jacket and pants as well.

Versatility combined with value i guess are important. I don't mind spending the bucks if the quality is that much better than alternatives but i don't need to buy sitka for the sake of buying sitka (sitka is just a name example).

I would say where are you hunting? For the most part, here in the south, I use magellan. You can't beat the quality and price point, IMO.

I am a huge Scentlok fan. Good stuff at decent prices. If you are patient you can't get most of their garments on sale.

Where?

Whitetail in a box or in a tree?

For really cold weather, Cabela's E.C.W.C.S. Heavyweight Base Layer is incredible

Mild to cold, Black Ovis Merino is solid

Mostly Southern state hunting. MS/AL. Extreme colds are more odd. Looking for more typical cold/cool weather and can layer up in extremes if needed.

I really like first lite base layers. The kiln pants with full zip ans 3/4 zip top is what I would get first.
I typically don’t wear hunting pants and just carhartt or Dickies carpenter or wrangler hiking pants.
Throw a first lite fleece over a base layer with a drake windproof fleece and I’m good down to upper 30s with that.
For colder I add my cabelas wooltimate series pants and jacket.

My son got a list-minute invite to sit in a ladder stand last year. He didn't have time to go home first and showed up in khakis, deck shoes with no socks and a blue sweater, killed a 10 pt.

I have a set of scentlok. I bought it before all the high dollar brands came out.

I don't know how it compares to Sitka, kuiu, FL and the rest of the high end brands. But if you're not buying those, it was the best made stuff I could find. Material and build quality is very good on my scentlok stuff.

OT Baws demand Sitka. Us poor folks in the outdoor board - shop clearance racks at Bass Pro, Tractor Supply and Academy. No like brands, no like patterns. Just warm and dry stuff.

Merino top and bottom (kuiu, first lite, sitka, black ovis)
Kuiu attack pants are my favorite pants I've ever owned.
I have the axis hybrid and Kutana hybrid jacket with a peloton vest. Works for everything till high is 45 degrees.

Below that I use my first lite sanctuary/solitude combo if the high is 45.

You could probably go with these
Kuiu merino bottoms with zip offs
Kuiu 145 merino top
Kuiu Attack pants
Some kind of insulating layer of your choice
Kuiu Axis Hybrid (great for waterproof paneling and wind resistance)

Grid fleece thermals for colder

That will get by with most temps.

A lot of that goes on sale.

No they are not. They see blues and greens pretty well. Flannel shirt works because they can't see red and it sort of becomes a camo. Bluejeans light up like a christmas tree.

if you are sitting in a box blind then whatever pants you want to wear and a dark shirt/jacket. Tree stand or on the ground stalking would be another answer.

The amount of money hunters spend on camo to sit in a box blind is hilarious.

2nd this. I bought my first set of Nomad bibs and jacket earlier this season for the colder days and its a huge difference in warmth.

Magellan stuff works perfectly fine most of the season down here though. Expensive camo is only really worth it when its cold and/or wet
