In a year when a lot of semiauto manufacturers are coming out with mag fed lever guns, lever gun veterans Henry Repeating Arms ironically made the opposite move at SHOT Show 2023 Industry Day at the Range: They brought an ambidextrous 9mm semiautomatic carbine. The new Henry Homesteader 9mm 16 inch barreled carbine with ghost ring sights, a traditional wooden stock, and the provision to mount an optic on the receiver.

quote:

Furthering the modularity of the Homesteader is its magazine well. The Homesteader has the capability to accept Henry’s proprietary magazines, Glock Magazines, Sig 320 magazines, and Smith And Wesson M&P magazines. The Magwell adapter for Sig and S&W is apparently one and the same. The Homesteader will ship as a Henry-magazine only model, a model with the Glock adapter, and a model with the Sig/S&W adapter.

shipping Feb 1st. MSRP will be $928 for Henry magazine only, or $959 for models that have an additional adapter for Glock or Sig/S&W magazines.

I like it.

Like a revival of the Ruger camp carbine.

Looks nice, $1k though? At least it can accept glock mags.

Yeah other than opening week of deer seasons it’s the only week of the year I truly look forward to each year.
I like the gun just not the caliber it’s in. Hopefully a 10mm, 357, 44mag is in the future. Then it would be a sure enough grab it and handle close range deer, hogs and anything else that pops up.

That's MSRP

It'll probably be cheaper on the market

I got the old man a 357/38sp Henry a while back and he loves it. It’s a hoot to shoot

I’ll get one myself one day.
the Henry catalog is some fine perusing material for the throne too

What would a 16” bbl do for a 9mm bullet?

I mean, how much can it extend the range of the 9mm?
Can it help with penetration or provide too much penetration?

Is 50yd deer hunting out of the question ?

I wish it was lever action. I realize that isn't really feasible with the way the magazines are setup but if they worked that out, possibly tube fed, damn I would be all over that fricker. Make it take the mags in a different position, I want it with a lever action dammit!

I see no reason why it couldn't be lever action, if they want to go that route. But it would HAVE to be box-fed, I don't think you can safely make a reliable tube-fed 9mm.

Not a Henry, but a lever action 9mm, coming soon, or already out. A little high on the price.

I got the .22 silver boy and it was $200 below MSRP. That was the cheapest I could find it. Was more like only $120 below after taxes and shipping.

Not that much, as it was designed for handguns to begin with and doesn't have much unburned powder left in combat sized 9mm.

If you want something that barrel length really stretches the performance for, .357 is the pick. Also a handgun round, so don't ask me why. I guess the bigger case lets you take advantage of extra barrel length.

Looks cool, like a Mini BAR, then they half-arse it with a pistol mag??
