Why not just go with an M1 carbine?

If you want a lever, get a Marlin in 38, 357, 44 or 45.
All are as good or better than a 9mm.
AR carbines in 9mm can be had for a decent price as well.

Not a Henry, but a lever action 9mm, coming soon, or already out. A little high on the price.

If I wanted an ugly 9mm carbine, I'd just buy a HI-Point an save $1700.

But it would HAVE to be box-fed, I don't think you can safely make a reliable tube-fed 9mm.

I would think tube feed would be safe with flat points with enough ogive to feed properly.
