I've had 2 of them and sold them both. Both very light and great shooters. Ive shot a whole bunch of them and they all shot great. I just don't like the plastic clip or the plastic stock. Some people love having a clip, I don't. I just prefer the model 70 to the Tikka.

Keeping personal preferences out of it, the Tikka T3 is still the best value for a do-all rifle out there if you prefer or are indifferent on the clip

Yup that's why I ended up going with the Win Mag, availability of ammo and it is fine for the distance I plan to shoot.

After the last round of ammo shortages, I decided on the win mag. Local walmart would always seem to have win mag, 6.5, 350 legend and 308.

I know the tikka is a good gun but it just doesn't feel right in my hands. Can't really explain, I just dont want one.

Start buying points in Wyoming now. BIL lives there and said it should take ~3 years to get a good chance. I put in for antelope, elk, and mule deer for last few years. Probably go up in 2024 for a bear since they’re OTC. Think the submission just closed though.

I get it. Thats why I don't have one. They are fantastic rifles.

I really like the weatherby vanguard / howa 1500 a whole lot. They are kinda heavy, but shoot great. Basically a drastically improved remington 700.

Make sure the b14 is cerakoted mine is not and the matte finish will rust pretty quickly even with frog lube also it is not stainless so internal barrel corrosion is an issue as well. One other thing is the ridge has a heavier contour barrel than a traditional sporter counter so not really a lite weight gun.
I have a Christensen arms 300wm I just got this year and I really like it SS and cerakoted recoil is very manageable with the butt pad it came with and the brake on. It weighs 8.10oz with a vortex viper 4-16-44.
I went with 300wm for ease of ammo availability and the various ranges of bullet weights that can be shot with it.

Put me in the love the clip club. I'm not a fan of a hinged floor plate. All personal preference as you said.

I've been looking for a 7mm rem mag. I saw a tikka and Winchester model 70 for sale. I'm getting the model 70. I handload and the tikka is too limited due to the magazine and short action for long heavy bullets.

I'm undecided on if I'll customize the model 70 with a new barrel and action truing. I might stick with the factory settings for now because I just sent my Remington 700 270 to the the gunsmith to customize it.

I understand the magazine part but I thought all Tikkas are long action.

They might be, but they are limited. Bottom metal and magazines are like 300 bucks or more. I researched enough that the tikka is out. The Winchester model 70 is a great gun and won't have any issues.

Everyone recommended a 7SUAM in tikka but I have a 270wsm. You can't find brass for these calibers. Ill stick to normal calibers from now on. I'll probably sell my Abolt in 270wsm.

Not trying to change your mind but if anyone else is interested I just put bottom metal on a Lite for $100, the stainless version on a Hunter was $120. Lumley Arms.
