Man I hope these family’s can find there loved ones. At least for a piece of mind and proper burial.

Side note is someone lost a lab. I mean what are the chances

Probably was a stray black panther.

Prayers for these young men and their families.

Yeah, closure is key here for the families and friends directly affected. At this point, a full week into the search, the hope they are still alive is probably gone in the eyes of their loved ones.

Even though some may be hoping against hope that isn't true---deep down, they know.

I agree. I’m sure they are accepting perishing but would still like a service

Is it routine for the dog to perish in these situations?

I was wondering the same thing, I at least expected the dog to have been found by now.

There are some funky currents around those rocks. Have fished behind them before and even at pool stage you need very heavy weights for the current

I keep forgetting it may have happened at night also, so the shore may not have known where to go.

The fact the dog keeps running toward the river when people get near it just doesn't sound good to me.

My thoughts as well. Follow the dog, he is likely to lead you to the people or bodies. I’d be dragging the river around that area too

It was later determined that the dog wasn't the one they had on their trip. Just a weird coincidence.

Looks they they searched throughout the weekend. Nothing of significance turned up. Just hoping for some closure for the families, especially during the holiday season coming up.

Yeh, a tragedy is bad enough, but right before Christmas is tough. In high school a friend accidentally shot himself deer hunting, with a pistol he had with him when he was walking back to the truck. I never heard the specifics of exactly how it happened (playing with it, or tripped, or just shouldn't have been holding it a certain way or what, not sure and never wanted to ask his brother or parents) but it was like 3 days before Christmas and it tore that family, and many of his friends, apart. Christmas has, and will, never been the same for that family. I just hope that they are found alive, but I also hope that they are found regardless to give some closure. Prayers for the families for sure.

Check this thread every evening to see if anything positive has been discovered. Really hate this happened to the young men. Nothing worse than kids being hurt or killed by any means. God bless them.

Me too. My kid is 19, an avid duck hunter, stories like this terrify me. We’ve been through every scenario since this happened, making sure that they’re doing things as safe as possible, but as a parent I know that fear never goes away. My heart hurts for the parents living in this nightmare.

Insist on 2 rules, wear kill switch and PFD while running. Those 2 negate a lot of the stupid stuff you do at that age.

For certain wear a PFD at the very least while running. Kill switch also if boat is so equipped. I keep a pfd in the back seat of the truck...I do not start down the ramp without it on and I do not take it off until I am back in the truck with the boat secured. IF I am hunting out of my boat blind and IF it is SECURELY sitting or pinned to the hill I may or may not take my PFD off to hunt...I use one of the manual inflatable PFDs which is not ideal but its better than nothing and its comfortable enough that I will actually use it. I will probably start using a regular vest soon, especially when running. Boating is inherently dangerous. Like most young men I used to think I couldn't be hurt...but as we age we either get scared or wise, depending on your perspective...

So you walk from the boat to your truck with the pfd on? I’ve seen you before

If you look at the souls taken by the grim reapers working for Poseidon and Neptune.. Most are older men that should have known better and generally not younger college aged and lower....
