We have 11 bronze medals. The next closest has 4.

There are also 5 countries that have more gold medals than we do.

Quality over quantity, I guess.

Weird thread after the US just took gymnastics team gold.

No track yet, would Phelps had helped so far? Not really kept track of swimming.

Ledecky also has some golds to come

As well as Simone

Decent chance for some tennis golds as well

We had 46 golds in 2016 with next closest country at 27

I don’t think we will stop at 4

Tell me you don't pay attention passed the first three days of the Olympics without telling me.

And basketball. And volleyball and a bunch of other shite

Break dancing: if we don’t get gold it’s rigged.

I don’t get adding more sports with “judges” though.

Maybe I like her butt the best. She gets gold.

Obviously someone like Phelps would help, but I don't think the US has been upset yet really.

We have won what we were supposed to win. We have plenty still to come.

This would be very concerning if China, Australia, South Korea, and Japan could keep up with the US in track and field and team sports

This swimming roster is among the more balanced ones and will get lots of medals but fewer than usual golds, as the old guard is no longer as good as they were while the youngsters aren’t as dominant or are too young.

World record holder in the women's 100 back didn't win. The previous record holder did, so not a huge upset, but still a win we should have had.

The swim team is obviously not as good as Bejing, London, or Rio, but pretty close to Tokyo.

We got spoiled by prime Phelps, Lochte, and Ledecky in a row.

USA having trouble getting gold in swimming races this year. Pretty sure Phelps came out and said that the team is more or less “young and rebuilding” this year.

Just notched a solid silver in the 200m X 4 freestyle

US Swimming is not going to have as dominant a run as they have had since Athens. They are still good, but the Aussies have a particularly strong team this year top to bottom especially on the women's end. Also Marchand is just getting started for France from what I understand. He's probably only going to take 3 golds, but from what I've see of him is that by LA most of the men's field will be competing for silver in the races he'll be in.

Don't worry. I think the British swim team is going to suck at future games.
