I usually stream BR sports talk, and listen to WWL on my terrestrial radio, and for some reason today I found myself listening listening to Garland exclusively. He usually has a pretty good take on things, but after a while he starts sounding like a broken record.

Dude knows his shite. If ANYONE in in the federal govt had 1/100th the common sense he has, this country would be a much better place.

If we allowed local government to do more I think problems could be solved a lot quicker. The federal government is just too damn large to get things done quickly. One of the main reasons the healthcare bill is so damn scary.

I know Jindal is doing everything but I don't understand why the state is asking permission from the feds to dredge the sand for the barrier islands. He just call a press conference tomorrow morning, and be as blunt as possible. Say you keep dragging your feet, so to hell with the federal government, we the state of Louisiana are going to dredge on our own to hell with what you say. If don't like come try to stop us.

i understand the anger at the corps for taking this long to grant the permit, but the grandstanding by the politicians is mindblowingly stupid.

it'll take months to build that berm up high enough to really stop any oil from getting into the marsh.

Master of the obvious. We all know that it pays a lot more to hype things up.

I can relate with his thoughts a lot.

I've been a knight of the oil company from the start, but as more and more shite comes out, I'm becoming less and less willing to do so.

Very much on target.

GR has a guest on from time to time named C.B. Forgotson - he has way too much financial sense for most politicians.

if only our politicians had balls like this...we let the FEDs burn us in Katrina and now we sit back on our assess expecting them to help us this time?? Didn't we learn anything from the past few years?? The hell with the Coast Guard and the Corp, we as a state need to have our own clean-up equipment that can be utilized when we see fit.

I agree there was a federal mishap in the beginning of Katrina. However the feds pumped in 190 BILLION into Louisiana. This ridiculous amount of money is what has kept Louisiana largely out of the nationwide recession. Hell some of road construction projects and development currently going on in BR is from federal Katrina dollars.

I do think feds need to take control of this mess now as BP has lied to everyone, dont seem to know what the hell is going on and dont seem to care. I understand the feds wanting BP to take the lead because they did cause this mess and paying for it.

He's been on the Moon Griffon show numerous times paralleling the Leg. Sessions. If common sense was gold, he'd be the wealthiest man alive.

Last time he was on there, he had concrete specific examples of how the state could avoid all of its budget woes - literally spelling out what agencies and departments had specific monies that could be used to cover everything.

No one from the capitol has contacted him. It's just so sickening!

OK... yeah he really went out on a limb...

Garland would probably be neck and neck with Carter in presidential prowess...
