Moss is making a good point, but you have to look at it from the other way around as well. if it were an LA kid, and he was looking around because LSU didn't offer and then as soon as he got the LSU offer he wanted he signed with LSU, you'd say he was just waiting on that offer and he jumped on it.
it's hard to make a judgement on the state of LSU's program just because a kid finally got an offer he was looking for.

Philly would do it because they have a terrible FO and have 3 bad contracts in Iguodala, Dalembert & Brand. Peja could give them some relief.
