James Lavigne, was not a bad kid, didn't know what the others were going to do and didn't participate in the killing.

Um.
Defendant is Craig, And Lavigne did get a deal to avoid death penalty.

quote:

Defendant and Lavigne, both armed with handguns, pulled the victim from the vehicle and marched him at gunpoint away from the truck. They reached a grassy area where Lavigne struck the victim in the head with the butt of his gun. The victim fell to the ground and Lavigne began to walk back to the Bronco. As the victim lay on the ground in a fetal position, defendant knelt at his side and fired three bullets through his head, killing him.

I thought that was Zebbie that did that with Dale. Everyone that knew Lavigne when that went down said he wasn't the kind to kill, like Dale. If not for that dude, the whole thing never would have happened.

Zebbie was always off. Think I'd run across him a time or two before, in a peripheral sort of way. People I knew had a low opinion of him.

I started hanging with a whole different kind of crowd around that time. Started LSU and living in a dorm surrounded by hotties and having fun.

Any chance your initials are BD?

Same here but the southside of town with Mayfair and Kenilworth/Woodlawn HS hoodlums. I 'got out' per se by starting LSU and finding a new social circle.

We need less prisons and more permanent solutions

As in a much more frequent use of the death penalty. And if the state can’t get anyone to sell it the pharmaceuticals then bring back the electric chair.

And put the first one on prime time network television.

frick that guy. He’s a waste of good oxygen.

I went to middle school with him as well.

As did I. Zebbie and I crossed paths a few times. We were both troubled kids but ran in different circles. I knew him at Istrouma, obviously.

Next time we met, I was fighting a rather large member of his crew in his front yard. Zebbie and I were still cool. I had some people with me as did he, but everyone let the fight play out without it becoming a rumble.

I didn’t see him again until about 6 months before the Gullet murder. I was at a party with a close friend at the house of one of his crew (the one that was most responsible for the murder). My buddy was high and hallucinating and unbeknownst to anyone he went outside and took a dump on the side of the guy’s house. Zebbie found out warned me to get my buddy out of there fast or his friend would “kill him”. Because of the way he said it, I listened and got him out quick. After the murder, I knew he was warning me about actual possible murder and not an arse whooping. By that time they knew they wanted to kill someone and were waiting for the right time.

The only other time I ever saw him he was awaiting trial for murder. I got caught with some baby weed plants in my apartment and somehow ended up on the rape/murder wing in BRPP. I was the only one there for drugs, everyone else had extremely violent charges. He coached me up on how to survive the place, the rules of the wing, how to avoid fights during day-to-day life, when to fight and what to watch out for.

He was obviously a shitty human being on some levels, but he helped me out a few times when he didn’t have to.

Really depressing thread. I have a freshman son at LSU right now and I feel terrible for Kipp's parents as I imagine it haunts them to this day. It would me.

Yeah, I need to create a cheatsheet for all the usernames I should know IRL!

Doesn't sound like there's gonna be a 25 year anniversary for Central this year, unless I missed it.

I knew Kipp. We didn’t hang out together as I was 3 years older than him. He was a freshman on our high school baseball team when I was a senior. He was a good dude. I have many friends who have been killed in accidents and such, but he is the only one I know who was actually murdered. I was a Junior at LSU when it happened. I didn’t know his parents, but I remember they were on Geraldo or a show like that after his murder. Tough to watch.

It was a weird time where Central schools were terrible and BR was trying to desegregate schools by race

Central schools weren't terrible before the split. They are certainly better now though. My parents sent all of us to Central Private because of the bussing although I did go to Central High 11-12th

Ha. No just friends with them. I'd see them acting a fool at clubs around BR and I'd do a little partying with them. But I didn't partake in their crazy arse fighting and hoodrat runs to Mexico. I was busy with LSU and rugby by that time.
But I'm still friends on the FB with a few these days.

Didn't Aaron Seal turn out kind of normal? I always figured he'd end up in prison.

I remember going to Albertsons on George O'Neal to fight a bunch of people from Woodlawn in the mid 90s. Some of them were Cheetahs. We had like 50 people.

There were probably 25 cop cars there when we all showed up. Apparently it was the worst kept secret in town. We were all such morons back then
