I too went to middle school with him. Lived in same neighborhood off of sharp road too.

Sad to say I hung out in the same crowd, heavy metal, long hair, black clothes, alcohol and drugs, the entire thing. Thankfully I turned away when the drug use became more obvious and frequent.

He actually showed up to school in 7th or 8th grade with his hand wrapped up from accidentally setting off a 12 gauge shell in his hand while trying to disassemble it to collect the gun powder (for a pipe bomb I believe).

Cant really believe he was out of jail or even alive at this point.

He lived in Kirby Smith, as did I. Campus was very tense around that time. There were several armed robberies happening on campus at night during that time.

I was a sophomore having just moved off campus, and I remember the carjacking and murder being in the news, but i don’t remember there being a perception that the campus was unsafe around that time.. i walked around campus a lot at night, to the library and stuff, or when living on campus the prior semester, to the Highland Coffees or the dollar movie theaters , and it seemed very safe- which is why i think the Kip guy’s murder was such big news.

We had so many little groups and subgroups. But you’re right, he was part of that group. I remember him being like a wannabe Judd Nelson from the Breakfast Club. I was a year or two older than him by the way.

Probably, I was one of the very few headbangers that had good grades and I was a bit of a stand out physically. Those years were rough emotionally I suppose trying to figure out who we all are.

One of that group cuts my hair when I'm back in BR. Very cajun sounding last name.

Great guy, through and through. Amazing how some from that group went on to be fantastic people and some went on to be murderers.

So was I. I went on to graduate from Central High. I wasn't part of their little group, really kind of the antithesis of them. My friend Bryan L beat up one of them at school one day, but I forget which one is was. My other friend fought one of them on the school bus one time. All this fighting going on, but I wasn't in on any of it.

Godfather, you know all these people I'm talking about really well.

Probably dont know who I am. I dont really remember my time there fondly and dont really remember many people that i went there with other than a few that went on to Central High with me. I didnt really like it there and left during 8th grade to finish up at Central Middle.

I remember that, but I thought that he tried to kill himself. Maybe I just figured that, or it was a rumor going around or something. It was all so long ago, and again, I wasn't part of their group so I didn't get the inside scoop.

We probably all know each other...

I slammed him into a locker in A Bldg by the middle set of stairs. He was in the 6th grade. I can’t remember why I did it, but thought years later (after the murder) that maybe it wasn’t such a great idea if he remembered that and tried to retaliate.

I loved my time at that school!

Pitiful that anyone associated with the Kip Gullet murder is still walking around.

They should have all been hanged from the flag pole on the parade grounds.

You have to be a real piece of shite to come on the the LSU campus, carjack a student, transport him, then kill him for no damn reason. They could have just taken the car.

Perhaps 20 years in prison dehumanized him?

Seems like he was a sociopath before he went to prison before.

Uh, are you disregarding the fact that those 20 years were due to him participating in a robbery that ended in an execution style murder?

He was charismatic, social, and had some natural leadership tendencies. But he was certainly self serving, devoid of a sense of right and wrong, and lacked any empathy at all. His psychopathic tendencies were obvious to any observing even as a young teen.

I’m sure he came from a fricked up family. I always got that impression with him.
