So I signed my daughter up for 6U basketball because she wanted to play and I thought it would be fun.

Now I'm on a group text message and these parents are discussing offensive philosophy and want to know what drills we are running and whatnot.

It is non stop texting.

Remove yourself from the group.

You’re welcome.

Set the group to do not disturb to keep your phone from buzzing and making noise.

ETA I’m not going to be here everyday to walk you through life.

I would have Kaiytlynne play the 2. She can run off a screen for the give and go.

Most if your daughter’s teammates are running drills at home outside of practice and games. We saw this with my son’s 4-year-old soccer team.

The reality is that the kids who are committing at an early age to putting in time and effort for the sport will end up being be kids that get the most playing time and possibly end up being the best varsity players as well.

I don’t think youth sports (even high school level) are worth that much time unless my kid shows a passion for it that doesn’t come from me.

You don't understand.

I'm the type of person who has to clear their notifications all the time.

At 6 years old they are wanting to discuss offensive philosophy? They might want to consider focusing on basics first.

Oh I do, I’m in a GT that could easily throw our 200+ messages a day. Putting it on DND keeps the notifications from popping up while my phone is locked.

When I unlock, just click on the text group to remove the notifications.

Parents are the worst thing to happen to youth sports. It’s supposed to be fun and about learning the fundementals. Life lessons about winning, losing and perseverance. Now you have parents acting like the kids are playing for the Olympics. They are why a lot of kids hate sports.
