If we are picking a builder, A Hays Town style houses for me

I really like those. We have a traditional colonial. Common build for larger houses in the Northeast

Sears used to sell some pretty nice homes out of their catalog

Pre cut and fitted. And damn homes were cheap to build in the 1920s. Average salary then was around 3500 a year. Take into account you had hardly no appliances, no tv, no cable, etc to pay for back then and no wonder everyone had huge homes. You could easily finance and pay off a big arse house in 5 years

That's got to be the Lower 9th Ward/Brad Pitt funded bullshite they put up after Katrina.

Some hideous looking houses they designed and built for sure.

I love A Hays Town homes, if we ever have a chance to custom build we plan to borrow some influence for those designs.

This one you posted is for sale in Monroe for $2.375 million, it's a beautiful home.

Laughable that this post has downvotes and zero upvotes

I prefer the A Hayes Town homes

Same here. I just built a new house but nothing like A. Hayes Town because of my budget.

I’m single and my plan is to sell it 6-7 years, make some money and do it again.

There’s no in between with me on certain things. For example, flooring. I like reclaimed heart of pine preferably throughout or with a nice reclaimed antique brick floor for the kitchen and baths. Until I can afford that - just give me stained concrete throughout.

My emphasis is to create multiple outdoor living areas that flow seamlessly with the house.
The outdoor kitchen, outdoor living room, courtyards, the shop all flow together for entertaining. It’s where I spend all my time when I’m at home.

I like Federal architecture for homes, specifically Adam style.

I like them with symmetrical wings nice for the garage on one side and the master on the other.

Anything designed by James Cutler would be nice.

Never knew who this was, now I can’t stop looking at pics of his designs. God damned they are works of art.

Beautifully simplistic, like I mean right on the goal line of not have a single unnecessary thing and same time not being to barren, and everything is in just the perfect spot.

I like Painted Ladies

And some Frank Lloyd Wright designs.

Wright absolutely hated Victorians.

Hayes town used painted white brick. A little different way of using it but basically painted brick. Don’t know why people are so against it. Really it’s the white paint that can’t be any whiter that bothers me. Nice creamy off white is the way to go.

The best houses are the ones that get better with age. That’s what Hayes town did best.
