The patrician's choice. Very good. In the spirit of the thread, here's a modest patio in that style:

I am a fan of the craftsman style. Attention to details, emphasis on natural materials and light without being overly ornate.

I agree. I also really like the craftsman, bungalow style. They are also inviting, and typically have great use of outdoor space (porches). I don't really notice too many in Louisiana, but you see a lot of cool ones in California and the Pacific Northwest.

i live in a historic neighborhood and it's almost exclusively craftsman style homes. we love it. i'm surrounded by liberals but we really enjoy the area.

not for everybody.

French Country.

No pics. Uploading pics would probably break the WiFi in this hospital I’m currently sitting in.

Anything designed by James Cutler would be nice.

We live in a 175 year old craftsman. Love it now after 30 years. Hated the renovation decade...

you mean the decade it took to renovate, or the decade where everybody decided to renovate?

our neighborhood is going through it now. for the most part it's a good thing.

I'm not a huge fan of ranch style either, but I live in one. Ours has a bit of charm though, huge oak tree in the front yard, painted brick, gas lanterns, dark gutters, etc...

The decade it took us to renovate. It was pretty sad when we bought it. Solid but sad. Ripped everything from electrical to plumbing. Left as many of the old features as we feasibly could. Also added two beds and a bath to the unfinished attic.
