@bopinion
The past decade has been awful for Connecticut:
?? Its economy is 9.7% smaller than it was in 2008
?? It's been losing population since 2010
?? It has fewer nonfarm payroll jobs than at the start of the recession in 2008

Once they raise taxes just a little more everything will be perfect

People in Connecticut don’t work in Connecticut. Connecticut laughs at Louisiana.

It’s a pretty well known fact that pretty much everywhere in CT outside of the nice suburbs near NY is a shithole. This isn’t new.
Ever been to New Haven? Outside of Yale’s campus it looks like NBR

UCONN men’s and women’s basketball teams singlehandedly have done so much to help their economy for the past 25 years.

That's too little information to make any kind of comparison.

Louisiana, despite its shortcomings, has been noted as being one of the happiest states in the country.
Louisiana sees that laugh from Connecticut and raises it a #sttdb.

I am all for a pile on in ripping up high tax blue states losing people and economic activity, but Connecticut had some pretty unique circumstances during and after the crash that are the main cause of this.
What the crash did to financial services in Connecticut is about the worst thing to happen to any single state's economy in my lifetime, including the O&G crash to Louisiana in the 80's. They got obliterated. GE's crash and burn in the last ten years - no fault of the state's, really - has exacerbated things as well.

And now that UConn has been frozen out of all major power conferences their athletic programs, save women's BB, are dying quickly.
