Yellowstone or RMNP - fishing

My brother and I are looking to take a fishing trip with my dad September-ish. Originally, we were thinking Yellowstone, but a guy at a local outfitter was recommending we consider flying into Denver and checking out RMNP.
While fishing is the draw (for my dad), we are more interested in going somewhere to catch fish 1/2 days but that has the best scenery / hiking, etc. I've never been out wewst (with the exception of coast), so anything will be new for me. Looking at a 4-5 day trip.
Any recommendations?

both parks are awesome. I didn't get to fish yellowstone but I talked to some guys that fished there and there's apparently an awesome run on brown trout in the fall. Yellowstone definitely has more sights to see but you can't go wrong with either for scenery.

I started here primarily as fishing wasn't the only concern. I want to be able to catch fish so that's prerequisite, but the scenery is important.

I believe you can fish in the parks, but I am okay with fishing nearby, just want to be near the park.
Preferably, but are open to a float trip also.

It’s two or three hours from Yellowstone with great hiking and gorgeous scenery. It’s also much less touristy compared to Yellowstone, and I’m not positive but I believe the fishing is very good

RMNP is way easier. Not sure if the fishing is better though. But a flight to DIA is cheap and you can be at your Estes Park hotel in 2 1/2 hours and in the park a half hour after that. Scenery is amazing. FYI- in September in the high country, the weather can get pretty dicey.

I have been to both parks and Teton but didn't fish at either. RMNP is one of my least favorite NP's. If it were me, as far as wonderful scenery goes, I would look in SW Colorodo around Ouray, Silverton area. I've seen alot of this country and nothing compares In my opinion.

Stay in Gardiner, MT. It is the north entrance, and the only entrance in Montana. Much more "sportsman" friendly than some other locations, and a little cheaper. I can recomend some outfitters for you, if you'd like. Id also recommend glacier national park if fishing is the main draw. I have some outfitter buddies in that area, as well.

Jackson Hole Anglers. me and my daughter caught around 50 cut throat trout including a few that were 3+ lbs. one of the best days of my life tbh.

Idaho. Sawtooth Mountains. Stay in the town of Stanley. Go when the Steelhead are running.

I would like Yellowstone area over RMNP, but rmnp is very easy to get to. Someone suggested SW Colorado and I agree with that as a beautiful area. Since you say you have never been to the Rockies, I don't think you will go wrong on wherever you choose.
Since it sounds like your Dad is all about the fishing, definitely book with a local outfitter to take you. They will work very hard to try to deliver one of the most memorable experiences you can have with your dad.

if it's between yellowstone and RMNP, yellowstone no question.
in addition to the great trout fishing in legendary streams and lakes, the wildlife viewing is tops, the attractions like the hot springs and geysers are worth it, and the park loop makes it easy to do a long day trip. plus you will be right next to grand teton national park, which is special in its own right.
easy access to both parks from jackson WY, which has direct flights from a lot of larger hubs.
not downplaying the beauty of RMNP, but if those are my two choices it's an easy choice.
