If you want to know how good Uber is just look at the unions across the US and abroad screaming bloody murder about it. They're scared as shite because Uber offers superior service and will drive them out of business.

My friend is driving in Houston and he's 23/24

And he can drive/not drive at his leisure. No schedule/shift involved.

i was in LA for 6 months and used LYFT ... great service and inexpensive. The drivers rate you and you rate them .... photos of driver and the kind of car getting you.

Baton Rouge is god awful for cabs unless you have your own guy .... Uber X would kill it.

Just got back from 4 days in Baltimore and took about a dozen Uber rides. Longest wait time - 5 minutes in five o'clock traffic. Driver called once and texted once enroute to apologize for the delay. Dirtiest car was a three year old Lincoln Town Car that was spotless inside but an empty Diet Coke bottle rolled out from under the seat - the horror! Only had one driver twice, talked to everyone of them and they all love their job, the flexible self-set hours and how quickly they get paid. It is common there for the drivers to put extras like bottled water, gum, mints and candy in the car for their passengers. All free of course.

After my third ride, I called my BIL in San Francisco who is a real world Baller in the tech startup world. I literally told him I wanted Uber for Baton Rouge and would mortgage my house and everything I had to go in on it. He is the type of guy who could actually fund something like this. He made a few calls and relates that they are entirely privately held. That they went out for financing recently and received over a billion dollars cash on a valuation of $18 BILLION. They don't do franchises, they go where they want when they want and, unfortunately, our politicians and unions stirring up trouble for them will probably put us way down on the list. Too many places would love to have that service.

For those who think you are paying a "premium" for Uber. BWI to downtown Baltimore hotel in cab $41.36 with tip. Hotel to BWI in Uber $44. I will pay that "premium" anytime. Only time it is more is with the $15 minimum if you take a short ride.

TLDR: Uber awesome, they are Ballers, don't need our money and probably won't mess with us.

You won't. You'll never step foot in a cab again once you ride in Uber SUV or car.

Eff and Uber X.

As home to the world famous LSU Tigers and the tallest state capital building in the good old US of A, we know that Baton Rouge and it’s residents expect the best! That is why we are excited to announce that Uber is considering the Louisiana State Capital as an expansion site. As part of the exploration process, we are working to gauge the interest of potential drivers in working on the Uber platform. To qualify, they will need to have an insured 4-door vehicle that is 2004 or newer and a valid drivers license. Things are starting to look good. Maybe our politicians will tell Yellow Cab to suck a dick and do something right for once. BRING ON UBER.

i am an uber junky but sometimes cabs are easier. In an area crowded with cabs, I will take them vs uber. Just cause it can take uber a while to get there.

Same here, typically when it's late and I'm in a busy downtown. Usually happens when I make a rash decision to change locations or go home. Typically, I leave the uber app running in the background on my phone and can plan when to leave.

To the citizens of Baton Rouge: pray to all of your gods that Uber opens up shop. An amazing experience.

With that said, I'm about to climb in a nice, clean and cool uber with ice cold bottles water. Deuces!

If the company does bring its services to Baton Rouge, Wyckoff says Yellow Cab has mobile technology in place to begin offering its own ridesharing services. “We've been preparing for this for a long time,” he says.

I hear they are also going to start accepting Bitcoin too.

Uber is using Baton Rouge to get to New Orleans. The good press in Baton Rouge will force the politicians hand. Good for BR

They can use the frick out of us as long as they come here. Imagine the money these guys could make If they literally just did laps around campus on LSU gamedays. They could make hundreds just shuttling drunks in circles.

Oh of course, Thursday to Saturday in tigerland will be as good as printing money. Plus it's easy jobs for college students shuttling drunks from bogies to the cottages pool.

Just saying uber wasn't looking at Baton Rouge until New Orleans unions mobbed up. It's a brilliant move by them, basically the business world version of island hopping.

Discovered Uber for the first time 2 weeks ago for a bachelor party in Boston. It blew my mind. Tap a button and a nice SUV pulls up from right around the corner. It was much cheaper, must more convenient, and the rides were nice.

We loved it.
