I don't think so. I paid $35 to get from LSU Nicholson to Bluebonnet. I remember it. Complete BS.

Please dont say anything LSU related because college kids arent using cabs.

If cabs were readily available around the LSU bars, more students would use them. Whenever we would call for a cab to come get us in tigerland when I was in college, it was basically a free for all with people trying to steal the cab whenever it would show up.

Dont think so? Ive done the ride numerous times(at least 20 times, maybe more). Its always between $16.50 and $18.50. This is also going down college drive every time at 6pm on a weekday.

in 10 years, all cabs will be out of business and you will see Uber as the #1 company with regional and local players along with 3 to 4 national competitors.

Cabs are going full Blockbuster right now.
google self driving cars perhaps with an uber-like system will prob overtake it

I don't think so. Part of what makes Uber work is the two-way rating system. If someone trashes a car and the driver gives the passenger a bad rating, no driver will pick up his dumb arse. The premium paid for the service and the ability for both parties in the transaction to refuse the transaction based on ratings peers gave the other party keep the service clean and friendly.

You know what a driverless car that you could call on demand would start looking and smelling like? A really small subway car. Hell, even cabs with drivers can be pretty fricking nasty.

Also, it kills me that Uber is a privately held company because I can't buy into it.

Anyone know if there is a way to request a car seat in the vehicle? If so I will never call a a cab again.

Uber is awesome

Tap your app, request a car...they are there in like 10 minutes and you can watch exactly where they are on a map on the app.

Don't have to use cash, pay with the app(tip included).

You can get an estimate ahead of time of the cost and see exactly who will be your driver before you get in the car.

Of course they will.

Filthy, old, stinky cabs driven by people who, pretend they don't know what a credit card is vs.new technology, fair rates and clean cabs.

They should fight this with everything they have!

I use Uber whenever available. I will even wait longer for an Uber because it is so much better.

UberX is what your referring to and is kinda iffy if you do not know where you are going (in my experience). I'd rather just pay the few bucks more for a professional driver most of the time.

I paid a few bucks more in Philly the other week. This service is a game changer.

I've got a good friend in Dallas that told me a couple of weeks ago about Uber. He says he has been using it for a while and will never get a cab again.

First time I used it was in Dallas a few years ago. Anytime I am in a big city I immediately see if they have Uber. It's a game changer. If there is Uber in that city I will not use another cab service.

Uber is lightyears ahead of cab service.

Cheaper, comes straight to you, no tipping, all done from your phone.

Love seeing all the cranky bastards here that don't know what it is hate on it.

ETA: They're a big deal here in Atlanta
