We're leaving for Dallas tonight. Headed to my wife's big "family" Thanksgiving Thursday night.

I say "family" because, aside from her parents and brother, it's just a massive group of close friends and turnout is 30-40 people. It's always a good time and it's mostly the parents in their 50s-60s and the kids in their 20s-30s. No little munchkins running around yet to worry about and the booze will be flowing freely.

This is also a good place to put a PSA that no one wants you to bring your dog over to their house. No, he is not “the goodest boy.”

My wife and I live alone(no kids or pets).

Her brother and sister-in-law came to visit last weekend and brought their 3 dogs(all 3 about 40lbs each). These dogs are allowed on furniture btw.

We spent the day before their visit covering the sofas, chairs, etc with sheets to protect from 3 dogs.

Of course it rains during their visit and mud is tracked all over the house by these dogs, my patio cushions are covered in dirt and scratch marks to the point of holes, my patio is also covered in dirt. Plus now I've got some holes in my yard from digging.

On top of this, one dog ate my tv remote, a 2 phone chargers.
In-laws apologized, but made no offer to replace or clean.

I'm furious and don't want them staying here again if they bring the dogs. My wife thinks I'm an a-hole. I told her they can stay at her father's house(who lives an hour away). Of course, they always want to stay here.

I'm about ready to get divorced over this

My tiny submission. Not worth much but it's funny to watch. Some teenage drama

At my wife's place, lot of folks came in town. Wife's lil cousin, can't be more than 19 years old, freshly graduated. She brings her new bf from college. Cousin's mom doesn't know or like the boy, and did not give permission for him to come. Daughter is in her rebellious stage, and simply gave the guy the address to come anyways.

Fast forward, normal Thanksgiving dinner. He has manners, so there wasn't any table drama. I sort of peeped the dude flirting with wife's other lil cousin, who is 15. In the guys defense, she is about 5'10, and 2 weeks away from 16. I would have no idea of her age if I didn't know her for years. From my eavesdropping while eating dressing, I could tell they exchanged social media information.

Out of no where, he says he has to leave. Less than 5 minutes later, 15 year old cousin leaves to go to friend's house.

I don't think anyone else suspect anything but I'm pretty convinced they left to meet. My wife is suspicious as well. My wife is like a big mentor to the 19 year old cousin so they talk alot.

I'm really intrigued to see where this story goes, personally. Was it just a big coincidence they left at the same time? Did they actually go to smash? Does the guy know her age. Does the guy end up getting arrested?
Nobody knows.

say it again... No dog owner can ever comprehend that other's don't love their dog as much as they do.

While we're at it if you dog is jumping on my lap or sniffing me maybe you can come fricking get it and bring it somewhere instead of just chuckling and commenting that he must like me or I can just tell it to get down

Ain't no MFing dog(s) coming in my damn house and tearing up my shite I've worked hard to pay for. Thankfully, my wife is of the same beliefs as me. Leave your mutts at home, or you can find another place or stay at home yourselves. Period.

I take mine, but it’s just to my parents’ house for the long weekend. My brother and sister bring theirs over too.

What’s funny is that my old dog would agree with you. Rather than deal with the other dogs, she finds the furthest out of the way corner of the house and sets up there the entire time until we leave.

Some cousins with toddlers from Minnesota are here visiting and staying at my grandparents house

Went down Sunday to eat dinner with them. Afterward we are watching the bills/jets as the kids are playing in the living room with little toy tractors and cars . They notice the tv on and become glued to it , entranced by football.

My grandad gave me the remote a little earlier as he went to the kitchen to eat.

My aunt.. who is the mother of the cousin who is in town visiting, said hey can you turn the tv off.. the toddlers aren’t allowed to watch tv…

So I’m watching the game with it at low volume, it isn’t disturbing anyone and now I must turn it off bc a 4 year old doesn’t watch tv so nobody can.

Such horseshite.

We are eating thanksgiving at my parents house including the cousins and the toddlers and we will be watching football.

I do. My dogs stay at home. My dogs spend time on walks, the backyard and in the house. No stores, restaurants, hotels or other people's homes. They are well behaved but I know people don't want more to deal with.

If you turn that TV off you might as well cut your nuts off and hang them from the antennae.

Stand up to that bitch!

No entertaining story here but when my wife (no pics) and I started dating we went to her family's Thanksgiving. I was shocked to see only finger foods. My wife thinks it's normal I strongly disagree.

It's definitely strange for Thanksgiving, but I actually quite enjoy it for Christmas.

I don't mean like finger sandwiches and a veggie tray. More like heavy apps - a big homemade gumbo/crab bisque, hearty hot baked dips, sausage balls, etc. Food you wouldn't necessarily sit around the table at the same time to eat, but also not bird food.

Sounds like you backed down and cowtowed. At least they know that you know your place now.
