I love this thread every year, always the best when people start posting late in the evening after many beverages

My goal for Thanksgiving is to uproot something trashy enough to be worth posting about here. Unfortunately I’ve been unsuccessful two years in a row

My family is so small we haven’t had any drama since my sister divorced her a-hole first husband over a decade ago. New BIL is the best. Just my wife, me, daughter, son, DIL, Mom, Sister, BIL, and Nephew.

My wife and I generally hide from family for the holidays. Go to father in laws but it's super chill, early day, no drinking. Gone in a couple hours.

This year we're going to a friend's house for the second half of the day. They, like us, generally avoid family and the drama. Should be a nice day.

I'm not gonna lie, this yearly thread is definitely a highlight of Thanksgiving for me. I genuinely hope it never dies.

As for me, I probably won't have any contributions to the thread. It will be my wife and I's first time ever hosting Thanksgiving. It won't be a large gathering. My wife's 3 half-siblings are all coming over, along with SIL's husband. Wife's stepmom just recently passed 2 months ago, so we wanted to do something special for them.

The fun part of this year's Thanksgiving is that all 3 of my wife's siblings are vegetarians. So the turkey will be the only meat, and we are trying to make sure that all the sides will be vegetarian-friendly. Here's to hoping that the food won't be bland.

My wife is on the IR, so I've been trying like hell to cancel Thanksgiving this year with zero success.

I am so thankful that I don't have these issues with family holidays. I actually look forward to getting together with all of our families. It's always a good time.

This. I enjoy hearing these other stories. But damn.. my family must be a Norman Rockwell painting or something. No fights… no arguments… no one storming out.. no one getting drunk and puking on the floor…

I don’t care what people say, THIS is the most wonderful time of the year. We usually get one or two classics.

We call this 'piesgiving'. We have a bunch of friends over for leftover pie and coffee...and laugh about what happened with our families earlier in the day.

What about the dude who's BIL wouldn't get out of bed? Or was that Christmas?

My wife and kids and I all go out of town for major holidays. It's way easier and less stressful.

Old lady invites her sister and new husband to spend Christmas at our house this year. They arrive yesterday evening and everything goes ok, other than he’s not much of a talker. I get up this morning and fix a big Christmas Eve breakfast, the SIL and daughter come out to eat with us. BIL didn’t get up because he’s a “late sleeper” according to SIL. I’m pissed because it’s fricking Christmas Eve and you’re at my house but sleep in, instead of having breakfast with the family.

After we eat, have coffee, and chat for a hour, this fricker is still in bed. I dump all the extra bacon/sausage/pancakes in the trash because frick that guy. Old lady is pissed I did it so she’s sulking. Now get this! At 11:30 I see my SIL in the kitchen frying bacon and eggs for this fricker. Well I’m instantly pissed, but then she takes it to him in bed!! This fricker gets a private breakfast in bed on Christmas Eve morning! He then gets up around 12:15, comes and flops down on the couch and starts texting/fricking around on his phone.

I’m ready to fricking fight and haven’t had my first Christmas drink yet.

Rant over.
