it was determined to be too degrading for women to be portrayed as sex slaves and servants to men, so they scraped the idea.

fear of the PC police killed it

i liked the original movie plot but the acting was so bad its funny. would love to see it get redone true to the original writing but with better actors doing it

One of the best sci fi movies ever.

I remember it, and yes I thought it was good way back then. I have a sneaking suspicion if I watched it again now, it wouldn’t be as great.

I've always loved this movie. Michael York, Jenny Agutter, Farrah Fawcett... I'm in.

There was also a short-lived Television series starring a pre-Trapper John M.D. Gregory Harrison and a post- Sound of Music Heather Menzies-Urich.

Pretty sure they filmed a lot of that at the Apparel Mart in Dallas

When I first saw the movie, I didn't know it was shot in Dallas. A few years later, IIRC 1983, I found myself at the Apparel Mart and kept thinking "this looks REALLY familiar, like a sci-fi movie or something". About 10 years later, I found out why!

If that's the way it is, don't hold your breath for a remake of "Stepford Wives."

Jenny Agutter
From 2019 - still holding up in her late 60s.

Unfortunately, she held up better than Farrah Fawcett

They did a remake if it. It was a 2005 film by Michael Bay called The Island. Starting Ewan Mcgregor and Scarlett Johansson

still miss 90s explosions in action movies. New stuff doesn't cut it

That’s what the superhero comicbook movies are.

I guess you had to be there... I saw it for the first time this year and it felt like a sci-fi channel original B-movie.

Just me maybe, I think Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey changed everything. Star Wars added all the action and explosions we'd like to see later.

Anyway, it’s pretty prophetic. I think it’s a good prediction of where society is headed. Conformity, surrender, death.

Seriously?

Explain how your description of conformity, surrender, death doesn't also allude to Officespace.

Hell, the plot of both is even the same: the protagonist rebels against the system.

Jenny Agutter was yummy

Indeed.

Actually had a pic of her whacked years ago. I think it was due to too much nipple, which I legitimately didn't notice at the time.

At first, I thought you accidentally typed the words in this sentence in the wrong order.

I’ve always heard and said this. I now believe we are that bored begging to survive. Make fun of religious people who search for the future and try to prove scientist wrong who know the present. I’m happy every motherfudging second I get. I’m not ready to know who was right.

They basically did. It's called The Island, with ScarJo and Ewan McGregor.

I thought she was sexier that Farrah Faucet Majors.

It was a weird Anderson movie but pretty cool.

TV series sucked.
