SO what is the make up of the wedding party? Are any of them as far away as your wife?

Don’t know off the top of my head but a pretty good size. Some are further away, some she met in college I believe.

Meh. Location isn’t very vacation worthy, id rather we do something else.

Stop asking this dude questions. It’s obvious he only cane here to confirm their opinions of being petty because he and his wife are selfish.

I told my wife to not even show up. Is that a solid response?

No, that's ridiculous.

So you've planned a wedding. It's a huge pain, and there is absolutely no way to please anyone. Maybe this girl has a lot of family she wants in her wedding party or something.

It’s understandable she’s feeling sad that the friendship isn’t as close as it used to be. If they were still close, your wife would’ve heard all about the bridesmaid decision process, not found out after they were chosen. The realization the friendship isn’t as close anymore is what she needs to mourn; not being petty over not being a bridesmaid. She can use this as either an opportunity to rekindle the friendship & put in more effort, or accept that it’s a new life stage & they are more casual friends now. Reacting in a spiteful way is childish.

How is my wife selfish? She didn’t recommend not going, she is still planning on it, I told her not to go when she told me how hurt she was. I admit it though, im selfish.

Well I'll say this -- I've been married 26 years. We had a small wedding party and don't even see them anymore except for one. And so many have forgotten the real reason behind a wedding and so many forget that these days.

This isn't the last time that you will be faced with this -- if you have children in coming years, there will be a party they're not invited to or a team they're not picked for or on and on. I hope that you're spared from this but if you think it's hard to see your wife upset, wait until it's your child.

Is your wife 12? Remind her she doesn’t have to pay for some ugly dress and spend thousands of dollars doing shite. Bride’s wedding, bride’s call.

I’d like to applaud the bride for doing what’s best for HER and her husband, and deciding that she wasn’t going to add another person(s) (your wife) to the wedding party because of allegedly social norms.

I’m now convinced OP’s wife was probably just a little sad about not being included but is ok to go.

But OP is all “Man, frick that bitch” just to be an attention whore about it.

I agree with you. People still get their feelings hurt though. This board is acting like people, especially women don’t get their feelings hurt (lol @ nurse). Maybe I didn’t phrase the OP correctly. Oh well.

Baw? Who uses that term. Somebody needs to grow some balls and stop being petty. It’s not a trade.

I wasn't in one of my closest friend's wedding party when she got married 13 years ago. She had female family members instead as her bridesmaids.

Feelings not hurt one bit. But I'm not petty like you and your wife.
