After being in a few wedding parties, I’d be so happy to be passed up.
I would rather attend the bachelorette party and have no responsibilities at the wedding.
All day long.

Do you understand how much money it costs to be a bridesmaid? Dresses, showers, luncheons, extra travel and hotel stays etc. You wife's friend did you a favor. FWIW, you won't be close friends with 80% of your wedding party in 20 years anyway. Your wife's friend will probably be divorced from the guy in < 5 years. Most people wish they didn't have to go to weddings, including yours. Just the cold hard truth.

Nah. Pages full of “low-T” and my wife being petty for feeling how she feels isn’t well thought out. People get their feelings hurt.
You refuse to answer why exactly she’s upset.
Is there a large group of bridesmaids? Are those bridesmaids closer friends/family members (including HIS friends/family)? How close is your wife and this woman if she’s that far away?
A real friend would understand those things and not be a bitch about it.

I offered several questions for you or rather your wife to consider. I can understand her initial reaction as hurt but she really should think this through. Maybe she'll still be hurt but she may very well say "oh I didn't look at it that way".
Great questions. Of course my wife didn’t ask the bride. She only confided to me because it’s personal and she doesn’t want to cause any trouble. I came to the OT because it’s anonymous

Your OP Makes no mention whatsoever of your wife's feelings being hurt.

My spouse was invited to the wedding (14 hours away) but not made a bridesmaid even though the same girl was my wife’s bridesmaid. I told my wife to not even show up. Is that a solid response? I’ve never not been a groomsman for the groomsman in my wedding party.
Just a statement that she was invited to the wedding of a girl who's wedding she was a bridesmaid at. And wasn't asked to be a bridesmaid. Then you ask "Should she stay or go."
Personally, I think y'all should go, then make a big deal about your wife not being asked to be a bridesmaid. Make the day about your wife, not the bride. That'll show her.

It’s during football season.

the first thing that came to my mind was if you are hurt, don’t go.
Don't talk to the bride about it, just... don't go.
Definitely the best course of action.

So your wife is upset when she doesn’t know the size of the bridal party and whether or not close family/friends are being included instead?
Yeah. Y’all petty AF.

I would be happy at the amount of money you are saving. Bridesmaids have to spend ridiculous money on stuff that is not even their choice or wedding.

So how did your wife find out that she's not being in the wedding party? (Don't mean that to sound ugly as I do not mean it that way at all).
Were they childhood friends? Coworkers? College sorority sisters? This answer can easily be the answer to why your wife wasn't "included".
Also, as previously stated, the groom may have 5 sisters or 2 super close cousins that the bride adores. You gotta cut it off somewhere.

Sounds like you two need a gallon of your favorite Blue Bell ice cream and a say yes to the dress marathon followed by your favorite cry movie and a night of cuddling.

Why would you think she’d be upset over someone she lost touch with or about the bride having a small wedding party? They talk to eachother regularly, just visited her last month. My wife has done things for the other woman and sometimes my wife feels like an afterthought.

Not to mention potentially (ok likely) having a dress that will NEVER be worn again that you'll pay $$$ for.

Continue this theme and have your wife wear some really hot outfit taking away attention from the bride and wedding party. That way you at least make it interesting for the rest of the miserable bastards that have to attend.

I can’t imagine giving a frick about this.

You either stay or you go. But if you go, I'm thinking that you'll see that the wedding party is family -- hers AND his and that there are no "friends". Sometimes that's how it goes.

My wife knows all of this. She didn’t ask the bride why she wasn’t a bridesmaid

And?
I have friends who are long distance that I visit regularly but would likely not include in my bridal party due to closer friends/family members.

SO what is the make up of the wedding party? Are any of them as far away as your wife?
I'd seriously be so glad to not have to deal with a wedding 14 hours away -- I could go and make it into a vacation with my husband!
