WTF is this new Federal ID bullshite that is required by 10/2020 to fly domestically?

I have a Passport, but for the poors who don’t, when did this shite become a thing?
..and still, we don’t require ID to vote.

I dont have a Passport. Is this some sort of special ID different from your driver’s license?

Read a little before you talk. It's called real i.d. Many state licenses abide by the federal regulations and meet the real I.D. criteria to be valid I.D. for entering a flight. Other states dont meet the federal requirements and drivers license wouldnt meet the real i.d. requirement

Deadline for Louisiana to be compliant has been pushed back a few times it seems; and now it's in Oct. 2020. (I believe it's been extended for most, if not all, other states as well.)

recently got one... gonna need to show birth cert, ss, 2 forms of residency

Incorrect. In LA if you go get a be DL today there are two different versions that are the exact same physically.
If you provide the additional fed requirements (and pay a little more) your new DL will also be your federal ID.
If you just provide the minimal paperwork you will get the same license that will say “Not for federal identification” on it.
