Would you “Put the fries in the bag” for an extra $10k a year?

I make 60k a year at a job I’m not crazy about and could leave to manage a food joint that would come with a $10k salary increase. I’m not fired up about making/serving food but could use the additional $1k a month. What would the OT do?

Well you’d be in management. May be a gateway to better management jobs in related industries if you do well at it. I try to balance my career objectives with pay. What’s your long term goal?

If you are near a Federal prison, they are hiring correctional officers. 45k sign on bonus (have to be there 2 years to get it all) and you will start around 74k a year. They need help bad.

No probably not honestly. But if you're relatively young I would be trying to find a new job/career that will have me making $160k/year 10 years from now.

Going into it my goal would be to eventually manage multiple units and possibly parlay that into a regional management role in another field

Have you ever worked in the service industry?
There are times when I miss it and wonder if I should've made that a career.
If you're young enough for a career change, give it some thought.

How much will your schedule change? If you are working a standard 9-5 to make your $60k, but would have to pick up more night shifts and weekends to get that bump to $70k; IMO it would not be worth it.
Plus, how many hours do the managers at these establishments work? Would you be the one that has to fill in when you're short staffed? Do you have the personality to work with the types of people that work at restaurants.
And you would be in a position that has to deal with the general public on a regular basis. If you are not already doing this, you will quickly find out that an extra $10k is not worth that hassle

I worked hard to get out of that industry.
$100k extra a year might do it tho.

If you think you'll enjoy the job managing the restaurant better than your current job, there's potential for advancement, and you'll make more money, I would say go for it.

This is pretty ridiculous to tell someone making 60k a year, “Hey man you should try and double your income.” Yes no kidding that would be incredible, but unfortunately I can’t snap my fingers and make that happen at the moment

I don’t know what you do now but managing a restaurant sounds like a pain in the arse.
You could probably bang some waiters though.

Yes I’m doing this at my current role, the general public is awful, especially a certain demographic

You mean "wrangle food workers and upset customers"... not to mention the paperwork, work orders, vendors, malfunctioning equipment, etc...
I'd sooner sell plasma, strip, and start an OnlyFeet account.
Actually... my feet are pretty cute.

Bro it'll be nothing like landing on the moon but I think the raise and change of scenery could be a good stepping stone. There's always other jobs out there for GOOD employees. Can you say what sector: QSR, fast casual or fine dining?

Cannot stress this enough. Took a $15k/yr pay cut to not have to deal with the public anymore a couple years back. Finally made it up, plus a little more, but it took some time
