I see the crime statistics and I beg to differ.

I simply will not risk my life or the wellbeing of my family if I see a Flash Retail Theft take place before my eyes.

I'll shake my head, lament about the decay of our society and walk the other way.

No way in hell. Not helping out Black Rock’s investment. Larry Fink can get his arse down there.

Do you intervene?

To what end, should I pull out my scimitar and start chopping off hands? The employees/managers of the stores don't care, the police won't arrest, the DA won't prosecute. Am I supposed to risk my freedom to intervene?

Stopping a petty thief has more consequences than being caught as the theif by police.

Only if they endanger someone else's life.

I could not stand by watching an assault, but if they are just free wheeling out with product, I wouldn't do a damn thing since most store policies require their employees to do nothing.

THANK YOU!

When retailers specifically instruct their employees to not interfere in the event of theft, I'm damn sure not about to put myself at risk for fear of the country going the way of a third world country. OR "if enough theft takes place the store will close and leave blighted community."

Like me risking my wellbeing trying to intervene as an innocent consumer during a Flash Retail Theft will change and damn thing about the community I reside.

No, might participate in flash retail theft interruption. Do i need to wear a mask or get a team of Sikhs to cane some shins?

Why would you stop community re-investment? These folks need the funds. I’d rather they get their hands on this merchandise and turn it around for food, shelter, and basics than some greedy CEO make another dime.

Yes, I see how it could impact everyone.

But I will not risk my own life or wellbeing if I'm a personal witness to Flash Retail Theft. The big picture in that specific scenario is that it's not my personal property, it's the retailers and they can deal with it as they see fit without MY intervention.

Hell no. It’s not my place.

Now, if there’s a robbery and the employee is trying to stop it, I will help the employee. The right thing to do is to help the innocent, not stop the criminal.

That's different than asking people why they would care.

Well, no. The big picture is still the big picture. Your specific instance is still your specific instance. The definition of words and phrases doesn't change to suit your situation.

Depends... Are my kids with me, are they looting a target or mom/pop .... How many. Probably just try to trip the dufus trying to carry to many things or the 60" TV .... Just to watch them bust it all in the sidewalk

No.

As a white guy, a cell phone camera would get me in a bind just for trying to do the right thing

A special teams hit on the last guy escaping would be fun.

But only if my tribe had the numbers.

Why the frick would you intervene? If they aren’t snatching shite out of your buggy, touching you or doing anything to you directly why would you do anything?

This mindset is how people get their arse whipped or worse. Mind your damn business Karen.

But imagine the pleasure of catching one with a baseball bat from sporting goods rack, or ax handle from hardware store upon exiting..... think Yellowstone Bar scene.

[and yes, would likely lead to the knights arrest and prosecution, which is what's wrong with our country today]

Not doing a thing about a flash mob.

However, I’m looking forward to the day I see a thief and an employee playing buggy tug of war while they try to load TV’s or meat so I can cut the valve stems on the getaway car and walk off.
