Systemic merciless beatings is pretty much the only thing at hand that could stop this epidemic but I don't see it happening widespread enough to make a real difference. Every one of those videos has people standing idly by but it would cease to go on if the village ever decided enough was enough.

Because we don't live in a third world country. This type of anti-social behavior is bad for everyone, regardless of if it's your property specificially.
And they drive up the costs for all of us. You know how those companies cushion the loss they build in? By charging the paying customers more.
And if it gets too bad, they just shut the whole store down leaving a blighted building and one less shopping option in that area.

Because these days the only thing seperating the US from the third world is a water/power grid? Today it's stores, what do you think it'll be tomorrow? A cul-de-sac? A neighborhood that doesn't have an MLK drive in it maybe? Apathy towards mob mentality isn't a solution.
One swift beating at the right time could change a life for the better, but the "not my cow" argument doesn't apply when it's the country you live in and it's as rampant as it is.

Only if they endanger someone else's life.
I could not stand by watching an assault, but if they are just free wheeling out with product, I wouldn't do a damn thing since most store policies require their employees to do nothing.
