Would you buy a new car if you knew the engine would only last about 10 years?
Posted by Ramblin Wreck

Also the gas mileage will drop on an average of about 3% every year. It only has a 10 gallon tank, so you can't drive it very far without filling it up again. You also need to know that the gas mileage drop will be even worse if you don't wait until it gets about empty to fill the tank back up. The gas tank has a special connection, so you have to use a specialized pump that takes all night to fill your car back up. There is a rapid gas pump available, but using it will shorten your engine life prior to the expected 10 year period. This car also doesn't do well in hot weather, so the life of your components will be even shorter if you don't park it in the shade and avoid hot climates.
Sound like the car for you?

Are you trying to use a pretend scenario to bash electric cars?

I really don’t know where to start with this and I haven’t drank enough tonight to really get into it.

Does that thing go Mach.Jesus and frick up any kind of knuckle draggin' V8?
Hell frickin yeah I'd buy it.
Also, your scenario is absolutely wrong, but you know it.
Just for starters, hypothetically, if it takes 4 hours to fully charge your Tesla, how much charge can you get in 1 hour?

This'll get bites, but mostly just because people will want to argue with the numbers proposed.

No. I would lease an electric for max 36 months, though. Why deal w service when it can be mitigated

For 150k or so I'd probably go with a commuter and something fun as hell to drive.
Gotta respect what Tesla is doing with that Plaid though.

Depends on how much the car costs and how much the fuel costs….either it is a good deal or it is not. It’s a matter of simple arithmetic.

There is a point where people are so willfully ignorant it is better to laugh and close a thread.

I mean, maybe. But I have a relatively new Tacoma. The gold standard. No way it's gonna last 10 years.
No one. NO ONE. Makes them like they used to.

If you can’t get more than 10 years out of a vehicle, you are either not taking care of it or putting a shitton of mikes on it

Because you get a huge tax credit for purchasing it?
