I mean it’s 2024, you will get backlash for literally -yes, literally - anything these days.
You could cure cancer and some people will bitch about subsequent population issues.

Of the 14 current and former LSU athletes in the Olympics, 10 (i believe) are representing teams other than the U.S.

How is this any different from Lia Thomas? They both switched teams

Dude made a smart financial decision. Gonna make WAY more money being a T&F star in Sweden than the United States.
I don't know who the first person who started this as the reasoning but why so many people continually run with it is mind boggling.
He has competed for Sweden so far for a few reasons but amount of money now is not one of them. Maybe a little at first when he was younger but those days are long gone.
Sweden allowed him to turn pro earlier than here in the US so that's one reason but the two bigger reasons are that the Sweden teams has allowed his father to coach him as a paid member of the olympic team and the US won't and then the stupid way the US does the Olympic trials (ask Dan and Dave). He can be the best the world has ever seen, have a bad freak day at the trials and miss the team.

Many do so because even on a good day, they wouldn't make the US Team. Mondo would make any team on a good day but doesn't have to worry about a bad day costing him a spot on the team in Sweden. Same mentality but applied a little differently. The bottom line is, it's easier to make Olympic teams in other countries and it does dilute our trials a bit.

That’s what happens when you stop playing the national anthem at games

Why do people keep posting Sweden vs Lafayette or Sweden vs Louisiana? It’s Sweden over the United States of America. He represents his Country, not his city or State? And wouldn’t he make many MILLIONS in endorsements as the the Olympic champion and record holder of the US? Yea, not a fan.

Didn't realize the rules are so loose when it comes to which country one can represent.
He is a Swedish citizen by birth, same as his American citizenship. Not really an example of loose rules.

I would actually be okay with it, if that was the reason. The fact that he’s now the #1 and World Record holder , representing Sweden, PISSES ME OFF! Good luck with those taxes, lol
“The average American worker's total tax burden is 31.7 percent of earnings, compared with 42.9 percent for the average Swede.”

Yea, good luck paying that Swedish Tax rate, sellout,

2. By competing for Sweden, Duplantis was able to start competing in pole vaulting at a younger age. Sweden does not have the same age restrictions on competing at the highest levels of the sport. The United States does.
3. As it pertains to the Olympics, Sweden selects their Olympians on the totality of their performance over several years, rather than an all-or-nothing Olympic trial.
I had always read these specifically were the reasons. In the US, you could have one bad day and not make the team. He had the ability with dual citenship to guarantee a spot

Louisiana has some great looking women, but give me Swedish women any day.
My experience is they are very easy but more attractive from about 10’ away….rough up close.

If the US team wouldn’t have been so arrogant he would be jumping for them.

Damn, his mother is Swedish. Not exactly a stretch. I don't know if he is a dual citizen or not, but damn that's a pretty strong connectioon.
Yeah but did you hear her accent in the interview with the family. It was straight up Laffy Cajun. I didn't hear any Swedish chef.

Too bad. Thats the decision he made and he has to deal with it
The guy enjoyed all of the benefits of the US but when it came time to represent the country, he chose not to. Some thanks!

This is true. But what is also true is that I don't give a frick about other countries winning the Olympics. So, I don't want to hear about Mondo. He's just another Sweed that I don't give a frick about.

It's more of a travesty that Joel Embiid is on the USA basketball team. Dude is on his third citizenship.
