The story reads like she never left. The guy stopped to make another deal then went back to raping her. Might be wrong, but that’s how I read it

WTF good is under cover surveillance then? Not live? They planned on viewing it later or what? Stupid shite here/
This wasn't undercover surveillance though, it was a controlled buy. She I'm sure got busted with something and they offered her a deal to go buy something from somebody they want to bust and wear a wire and then they'll let her go if she does.

Exactly. The "wire" a CI wears isn't for their protection at all. It's for evidence.
The CI is inclined to go along with this method b/c they are assured they will not have to testify in court against the dealer. And they will still get their own charges/sentencing reduced.
Also the cops don't come busting in right after these buys either.
They'll wait a few weeks and go with a warrant to arrest the dealer.
The idea is that it makes it harder for the dealer to pinpoint who the CI was that burned them.
On paper it's a win-win for CI and cops.
The reality is they figure it out really quickly.

I assume she did this to get charges dropped? Man frick that, I don't know if I would be so quick to agree to go undercover for the police.
Im sure its easier said than done if someone doesn't have the money, but I definitely wouldn't do anything without a lawyer.
That's a god damn shame.

Even as the woman cried and her assailant threatened to put her “in the hospital,” narcotics deputies remained down the block in the blighted neighborhood, unaware of what was going on. That’s because, as authorities told the AP, they never considered such an attack might happen and the devices the woman carried didn’t have the ability to transmit the operation to law enforcement in real time.
They sent her into a trap house and the thought didn't even cross their mind that there was at least a small chance she could get raped? Either they are lying or they are fricking morons.

A woman outfitted with a tiny microphone and hidden camera walked up to a dilapidated drug house on a chilly afternoon last year looking to buy meth from a dealer known on the streets as “Mississippi.”
But as the informant disappeared inside with a career criminal with a rap sheet spanning three decades, her law enforcement handlers left her undercover on her own — unprotected and unmonitored in real time. And the devices she carried passively recorded a crime far more horrific than any drug buy.
Under threat of violence, the dealer forced the woman to perform oral sex on him — twice — in an attack so brazen he paused at one point to conduct a separate drug deal, according to interviews and confidential law enforcement records obtained by The Associated Press.
“It was one of the worst depictions of sexual abuse I have ever seen,” said a local official who viewed the footage and spoke to AP on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to discuss the ongoing case.
“Just the audio from it is enough to turn your stomach,” the official said. “It’s a female being sexually brutalized while she’s crying and whimpering.”
Even as the woman cried and her assailant threatened to put her “in the hospital,” narcotics deputies remained down the block in the blighted neighborhood, unaware of what was going on. That’s because, as authorities told the AP, they never considered such an attack might happen and the devices the woman carried didn’t have the ability to transmit the operation to law enforcement in real time.
that sucks.

There’s audio and video of the rapes, you moron.
We’ve found Officer Parker’s TD account.

I may be naïve here, but couldn’t they just send her in with a phone that is on and connected in her purse/pocket? Not hard to get a device that transmits audio real time.

Sorry officer, you did not submit the multiple carbon copy requisition forms, with original attached, in a timely manner. This request will be denied, just send her in with a mini recorder and you should be covered

So what if she had gone to the house to just buy for herself? If she were an addict, she's probably sucked a dick or two for a fix, right? At least now they can add rape to Mississippi's charges.

Sounds like she didn't even get any forgiveness for her own drug charges. I feel like maybe they should waive them?
