I just came to say this chick wasn’t really ‘hiking’. I mean I guess in some liberalized city person terms she was. But that’s ridiculous for the police to use that term here.

She was on a running/ walking trail in some public land in the city. its basically just a running trail.

At least the attempt to cover his face with a mask during the crime didn't help him get away with it.
(At least it looks like he's wearing a mask)

I’ve said it before. It’s so weird people mention how pretty or beautiful someone is when they’re murdered. As if the girl wasn’t the cutest, it’s somehow more understandable she was murdered.

More understandable? No, it’s simply that society values pretty, intelligent and young people over others. Cry about it some more

River Hubbel, a close friend of Heike's, said he spoke to her on Friday morning before her hike. The pair had a ritual with another friend where they would ask one another what they were grateful for each morning.

"I had asked what we were all thankful for that day and she had specifically just said that she was so thankful to just wake up another day so positive and to be able to go get a coffee and go on a walk," Hubbel said, holding back tears.

Damn.

Weird? Should we not care about the quality of our gene pool?

How else are we supposed to let murderers know that if they want to kill somebody, focus on the hogs. Stay away from hot chicks.

I’m pretty sure you actually get a lighter sentence if you murder less desirable members of the gene pool. We need to reinforce this basic survival strategy as often as possible.

I think his point was that she was still in the city proper and not out in some remote wilderness location where you would expect typical street crime to be rare or even non-existent.
