Do police departments have tbe access to phone tracking?

Seems like tbey could figure out which phones were in the area at the time if the murder

I don't believe they can do that. But, if they have a phone number they can track that, which isn't very helpful in a situation like this (where they don't appear to have a suspect.)

the first reaction I had to the article is a giant, "frick, that could've been me" moment for the witness. why her and not the witness and the witness' friend?

BRPD has evidence. What they did with the witness statement is also in line with the dismissiveness I got when I called them some years ago to report an incident.

They aren’t releasing info because
A) it possibly hinders the investigation
B) the social unrest and vigilante component

To the outside reader/lurker, these threads read like every 6’7 baw making a mill a year with their OT 11 wives are going to John Wick the entire 70802 area code.

The city sucks, but the officials realize their walking on pins and needles here.

Edit: “they’re”. Now you can undo all of those downvotes.

This tells me the perps very likely live right around there which I also thought might be the case. They were on foot so I doubt they walked 2 miles at 2am.

Is there any way of finding out who is the lead detective on the case?

We could have had a description of those guys out the same day she was shot.

I could've given you a description and I was 6 hours away and sound asleep when this happened.

This story really makes me want to find out the train schedule and set a trap for these worthless fricks. Honestly don’t know why the cops can’t do this.

It’s still summer. It’s still hot outside so I don’t see the reason for wearing a hoodie. That alone is suspicious to be wearing a hoodie

An astute observation and question that will trigger some people.

Oh shite. This dude might get charged with a hate crime for saying this.

Not all people wearing hoodies are criminals, but all criminals are wearing hoodies.

It could've been 1 minute.

Once adrenaline starts flowing, you could effectively be in bullet time.

Kind of like how people say they see their life flash before their eyes when something happened.

I hate this city and state. From top to bottom, we are the most corrupt, lazy, destitute, inept, backwards, and worthless state in the US. Now, there are some great people here, but, again, I hate it. I hate Baton Rouge. I hate Louisiana. We're a third-world, impoverished state that's overflowing with useless, uneducated, worthless, trashy, shite-stained "people".

Ditto! That’s why my kids went out of state for college. Each of their locations is MUCH better and safer place to be!!!

Yes, but if the witness's recollection of time is off, you're also potentially calling into question the witness's recollection of other details.

5'11" could have been 5'5" and a red hoodie could have been an orange jacket.
