There's a viable existing economy because of tourism and other factors that support the population in the Metro area, which is the largest in the state. So a job in those industries would probably be a factor moving to the NOLA area,
Nola's biggest industries being tourism and service industry is a negative not a positive.

The negative is not having much else. Not that industry it self. It thrives here, and produces jobs & money to many many people

Yeah, that's what I mean. It's a reflection of the lack of economic opportunity in the city.

Is this really necessary?

Moved from Chicago back to La last year to be closer to family. We could have moved to New Orleans but neither one of us was willing to do it. Both of us get tired and frustrated with the city after just being there for a couple of days. It’s so transparently worse now than it ever was in my lifetime, and it’s declining rapidly.
We opted for another part of south Louisiana in another metro. It’s smaller than we are used to, but we are glad we did it.
The only thing worse than than the delusional, arrogant citizens of New Orleans is the violent crime. You guys look down on people because they live on the North Shore, Lafayette, or Baton Rouge and completely ignore the dumpster fire that your city has become.
Not the least bit sorry about if this offends any of you NOLA snowflakes. Most of you that blindly defend that shite hole have already moved to Houston or Dallas anyways. Take off the rose colored glasses. The town you miss from decades ago doesn’t exist anymore.

In every discussion about Nola the words “culture” and “unique” get tossed about.
What exactly is Nola’s unique culture nowadays? Is it just Mardi Gras and some creole restaurants?

LOL
It wouldn’t even be worth the words to type out if someone wanted to try and explain it a little to someone who thinks like you.

Tell us about the culture in Katy Texas
You think a night out is taking the family to chipotle in a strip mall, I’m sure
So culture in New Orleans would be the opposite of that

I think it’s quite the opposite honestly.
Everyday on this board people from the areas you mentioned start another thread to shite on the city and get their upvotes. Nobody from New Orleans is starting threads about Lafayette.
ETA: I also think many of us are fully aware of the issues the city has, we just enjoy the positives of the city. I don’t know why it’s so difficult for the OT to understand people can enjoy different things.

That’s “dining out.”

You are delusional. I moved to Houston in 1994. I travel back to NO frequently to visit family and enjoy the best of what the city has to offer but moving back. No thanks.

That's actually a pretty reasonable article from Sutton. I agree with almost all his points. He sugarcoats a bit, but then Nolan exaggerated. I have lived in Houston. I have lived in New Orleans. I long ago chose New Orleans, and have been happy with my decision.

I am, and that’s why I ask. And notice how nobody can articulate it. It’s Mardi Gras, a few words and phrases (like “makin groceries), and a constant need to tell everyone how unique it is. The blacks are the same as anywhere else, the whites are mostly liberals like anywhere else. The locals are a dying breed and increasingly just like everywhere else.

But I’m not the one droning on and on about culture. I’m just asking you to explain it but I know you won’t, bc to type it out shows how thin it is.

Exactly. You can’t even talk up Nola’s culture without reciting quips about chain restaurants.
Is Nola’s culture just a collection of local restaurants?

I could type it out but you would just laugh & play internet tonight guy, as it clearly is not something you value. We don’t need you to like it or understand it lol
