I have read it. But that was set 50 years ago and things have changed. Right now, what is Nola’s culture?

I have no idea who any of these people are.

Nola certainly has a culture unto itself. It's a collection of food, entertainment, personalities, and a general laissez-faire attitude that you really don't see in other places.
It's a weird bubble inside a deep Southern state that has quirks not seen in its surrounding cities or states.
"Culture" isn't a concrete thing you can put on a plate but it's something you can recognize.
As much as I critique Nola, I'll always recognize it's qualities.

Will Sutton is a far left black supremacist who writes for the advocate or wherever things are written in Nola these days

This is a flat out lie. New Orleans people aren’t unique. They are the same as everyone else that lives in a liberal city in a red state. They are the same as Austin. Mostly retarded libs with a few non retards who are I ly biding their time before they are forced to leave due to crime/culture or lack of jobs.
The difference between NO and Austin is that NO’s hyper violent criminal element is the norm, not the exception

I lived there for a year in the late 90s. It's been about 10 years since I've been now though.
I can appreciate the locals' love for their hometown while also understanding that it does nothing for me anymore. I could never set foot in Nola again and would be fine with it. I could say the same about my hometown too so not throwing stones.

The "don't talk about my city" attitude of the avg NOLA resident is even worse than the "you think you're better than me??" attitude of the avg Laffy resident.
How dare people stand up for their city!

I disagree.
I've traveled many places around the world and currently live in the Midwest.
It's a different vibe for sure.

No mention in this thread about schools. I would be willing to bet that Jesuit, Franklin, Newman, Sacred Heart and McGehee send more kids to top 50 colleges than the rest of the state combined.

I can’t believe how many losers are in this thread.

I was raised in Pineville. Lived in a subdivision and area that had about 20 kids my age within walking distance. We played sports, rode bikes and skateboards, hunted in the woods that separated our various neighborhoods, fished in the ponds nearby, camped out in the woods, didn't have to lock our doors, went to high school football games in the fall. Yeah, it really sucked.
I lived in Metairie and did similar shite. You are describing a different time

Bruh, you always bring this shite up like Baton Rouge isn’t 95% the same way. We get it, you live in one of the few areas of Baton Rouge with spacious lots. Quit acting like Baton Rouge and Metairie are any different, for the most part, south Baton Rouge and Metairie are the same fricking thing

I mentioned the schools. A bunch of good ones and yes they do well in college admissions. Nola is first in the state in this regard, always has been.
You could spend all day listing the other great things. NFL team. NBA team. Tulane University (I love to razz it but it's a great school). LSU Medical, Dental and Nursing Schools. NY6 Bowl. Final Fours. Super Bowls. Iconic restaurants, bars, and hotels. World famous food. Great museums especially WW II. One of the most important ports in the U.S. Amazing architecture -- homes and buildings (things that really makes ATL/Houston/Dallas look homely by comparison). Music (world famous). Jazz Fest. Mardi Gras (world famous). French Quarter (world famous). We draw people from all over the world to experience these things.
The OT is full of routine Nola bashers but none of them live anywhere even remotely as cool as Nola. It's comical when someone in Katy Texas is taking shots at us. Comical.
Will Sutton is an idiot but he's not wrong. Bruce Nolan is going to be missing out.

I'm speaking on behalf of myself. Should I put on an act like Lester when participating in the br/Nola threads instead?

This is stupid. Those cities have a hell of a lot more going for them than NO.
Yeah, that is pretty dumb. Especially the San Diego comparison. SD is better in just about every category I can think of off the top of my head.
I just Googled a comparison of crime in NOLA vs SD and NOLA is nearly double the rates of property crimes and violent crimes so far for 2023. I imagine the other 3 cities rates are closer but to compare NO and SD at all is just crazy.
It's sad when the first thing most NOLA defenders point to is the city's "culture" or that whatever other city being compared "has no soul".
