When you think of Baton Rouge, what image comes to mind? Are you thinking of the worst parts of BR and comparing them to the best parts of NO? For raising a family, I would be much more comfortable in the nicer areas of BR than the nicer areas of NO.

Everyone can afford to live in Metairie, so why aren’t they moving there?

what?

There’s a ton of people being priced out of Metairie right now.

I wouldn’t raise a family in New Orleans either. I surely wouldn’t say let me move to Baton Rouge to do that either.

Here's a teardown in Metairie for 500k. Only reason it's not more is because it's on a very busy street.

People can move to NS or other metro areas and get a lot more for less but they are in a much less desirable area, hence the dramatic difference in price. The last two years, prices have gone way up in NOLA area, especially Uptown and Metairie. Look at what's going on in the Bywater and Upper 9, lots of gentrification.

I can’t think of a more overly weighted thing than “restaurants”

Oh you have an authentic Nigerian cuisine restaurant? Who gives a frick?

If someone is suggesting that the restaurants of a place are really good that’s just code for “we are inundated with crime doin’ undesirables and their spicy food”

Some people have a more sophisticated pallet and enjoy great cuisine and others think the value is in the volume they get for the dollar, hence the existence of Shoney's and Olive Garden.

World renowned fine dining cities, which NOLA is one, is indicative of an area with unique culture, sophistication and interest that draws people from all over.

There's a reason NOLA has a new International airport, high end hotels, so many world class restaurants. I will add that because of the competition between these great restaurants, people are surprised at the many options, quality and value represented. Sub-par restaurants usually go out of business fairly quickly.

People may wish so hard for it to fail, and despite the absolute shitshow mayor, it is still the Jewel of Louisiana. Even the people in Congress know the importance if NOLA at the mouth of the Mississippi.

Haters gonna Hate.

Are we still pretending home values are correlated to economic performance

New Orleans has stagnated for eight years now

I love great food and restaurants. I've been to some of the best in the country.

Sure, Nola has great food and it's one of the things I miss the most since moving. But it's very far down the list on reasons to live somewhere (at least for me).

Unless you're frequenting them daily, you can enjoy Nola restaurants while living outside the city.

Also, many big cities have great restaurants, so choosing Nola over any big city simply because of food is vastly exaggerating how good the food is. It's unique and good, but not reason to move your family there over another city.

just looking at your post, your interests seem to be comic book movies, netflix shows, and sports. Nothing he could explain to you would help you understand the importance of restaurants in communities and neighborhoods.

Same. Restaurants wouldn't even crack the top 10 reasons to live somewhere for me

Spot on, when your defense of your city is its restaurants you know your city sucks.

There's a viable existing economy because of tourism and other factors that support the population in the Metro area, which is the largest in the state. So a job in those industries would probably be a factor moving to the NOLA area,

Is someone going to look at your post history and label you some authority on food and restaurants? No.
