Sad to see malls disappear imo

Pretty iconic aspect of Americana

I'd be up in that bitch if Space Port and Mama Brava's was still there. And the store that sold the Jimmy Z outfits...

Went a few months ago for shits and giggles. The place is depressing. 90% of the spaces are empty. There is no way any of those stores are making money. They must be open for some tax reasons

The video would be better if the guy doing most of the talking cursed more.

Sure it will, but just FYI Cortana mall moved locations and changed names. It’s called Mall of Louisiana now

Had to turn off the volume, the guy filming is a retard.

Went to the "new mall" on black Friday, and tried to explain to my kids cortana was busier on a staurday night in the 80s.

Agreed. It would also be helpful if he could shake the camera a little more. Too many clear, steady shots for my liking.

It needs to be torn down and the land repurposed into a distribution center.

Local retail only on the periphery facing Airline or Florida.

More and more malls are gonna fall by the wayside. My wife tells me she won't be surprised if the mall in Lafayette is shuttered in ten years.

They can film the new Dawn of the Dead movie there though.

I couldn’t be around that guy for more than 2 minutes before I would have to b*tch slap him

The guy sounds like a knock off brand Dane Cook. Also when Cortana closes you might just want to start breaking ground on a new luxury mall the same day.

Have to keep up the cycle.

I always wondered if there was a connection to that notion as to why they are developing the Pecue Lane extension to the interstate.

This is the way I feel about Esplanade, watching the video Cortana is way worse. The Riverwalk was really bad off for a while but it reworked itself as an outlet and is doing much better.

That's so depressing.

A lot of my youth was spent in that mall.

It still looks in great shape (despite being essentially empty).

And, yes, the decline of the mall is sad and is a reflection of the desocialization of American society, The mall was where you would go and interact with people. Now, just buy online and never leave the house.

Interact with a wait staff at a restaurant? Nah...Waitr or Grubhub.

Interact with patrons in the line at the Starbucks? Nah...mobile order and just walk in and out.

Looks to be in pretty good shape. Why don’t they close off most of it and only put the stores that are still there over by the Dillard’s outlet? Seems like that would save on electricity, security, etc.
