Those underpasses should be changed to over passes or raise the train tracks.

I think the tracks need to be built on a berm and elevated - and pass over all at-grade intersections. They already are sort of on a smaller berm. It just needs to be larger.

You can always tell who the douchebag plaintiff lawyers are in these threads. Like rats to cheese.

That reminds me, I need to sue AP because my boat only works on the roads sometimes.

If I get cleaned out by a school bus while trying to cross Hwy 73 in my bassmaster I fully expect my family to sue on my behalf.

50/50? That's absurd. Did he have a mental deficiency?

It’s dumb to file a lawsuit because someone drove into basically a lake that everyone knows about when it rains hard

But flooding at those places on Acadian and Bluebonnet is so common I don’t understand why DOTD hasn’t installed permanent barricades there they can lower from anywhere with the flip of a switch. Like the barricades they have out west on interstate entrance ramps they close when there’s a blizzard. Basically railroad crossing boom gates.

BRProud.com article with more information.

Edit: witnesses say he was trying to break his window to get out. Perhaps he drove in and his door jammed.

That is one of the most poorly written news articles I've ever seen.
From the article:
Battiste said, the city-parish should have been had those barriers in place because the area is known to flood and it could have prevented the loss of life.

I’ll take this moment to suggest if you don’t have a window breaker/seat belt cutter tool, buy one for your vehicles. Vehicle windows are very strong and you aren’t likely to punch your way through them from the inside. It will also get you inside another vehicle more quickly if you need to rescue a child in a hot car. Alternatively, remember to try using your feet to push out the windshield instead of a window from the inside.

Removing the headrest from your seat and using the two posts work to break the window.

That section of Bluebonnet between I-10 and Highland was repaired/upgraded by the state. The pump station was rebuilt and the whole shebang was transferred to the city parish almost 2 years ago. Yes you can indict a ham sandwich.

I'm curious if her claims will hold water in court.

This and it can also then be used as a flotation device.

Odds are he's 1000% more mentally capable than our mayor.

Siegen is a state hwy I think.

Office of risk management will settle.

They always settle.

A few years ago a drunk driver wrecked and killed four of her kids. She sued and won.
