No, it's a joyride to make fun of the mouth breathers to the east.

The buses from Chinatown in the respective cities will sell transportation cheaper. Especially short trips where the trains might be feasible.

Another good point.

If you have to drive 30 minutes and then park, a lot of people are going to think that defeats the purpose.

I could see an LA to Vegas or Houston to Dallas train being viable if you don't have to bother with the TSA (or they have a reduced presence for train travel). But that would be best for business travel.

Look, if you want the European lifestyle, move to Europe. This is how we do it in America. We have unlimited freedom here- no “papers”, no borders, no bullshite. We have cars and trucks and all the freedom to move about that all those other shithole countries lust for.

You want to ride the choo choo, get after it. The rest of us want to come and go as we please in our own vehicles. Quit asking the majority to join (or at a minimum, pay for) your misguided Eurocentric Dick riding.

Better yet, get a car and enjoy the freedom
Of the open road that makes America the most envied country on the planet.
(At least by the people who don’t already live here.)

If it hasn't already been mentioned, there is a high speed train proposal from Dallas to Houston that is pretty close to being reality. It is private money paying for this and they have already gotten a lot of the federal environmental approvals and acquired much of the land. They still have a few hurdles but its the closest a high speed train has gotten to being built in Texas.

How is that different from flying? You rent a car or take uber.....uber really makes it more practical.

Sure, I will say there is value to airlines too as short haul flights are not as profitable as long haul. And airport gates are beginning to be precious commodities so using gate space for more profitable flights is a factor in the equation too. This was a big factor in europe moving to high speed rail several years ago.
