Why the Beer Stops Flowing When the Government Shuts Down

The makers of beers from Samuel Adams to Sierra Nevada say they are sitting on suds they can’t bottle and sell or are holding off on production of new beers because they don’t have federal approval for some of their new labels or formulas.
“Across the craft beer industry, we are talking about tens of millions of dollars of sales” that are being lost because brewers can’t get products to market, estimated Boston Beer Co. founder Jim Koch, whose company makes Sam Adams beers. “That number goes up every day the shutdown continues.”

Sierra Nevada and Sam Adams aren’t craft beers.

1 more reason for limited gov't.

Isn't the problem that they have to go to the federal government in the first place?

The federal government has to approve beer labels? WTF?

If a rubberstamp from a bureaucrat is what is holding things up over LABELS, maybe that should tell you that the rubberstamp and the bureaucrat are unnecessary

I remember some backlash over the Founders' Breakfast Stout logo featuring an infant baby. Can anyone expound upon this further?

Was the baby being raped? I mean, what's the problem? There are images of babies on all sorts of products.

Sometimes is better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

My guess it is more to do with the formula and if the label accurately depicts the formula.
I think mostly the hipsters are going to feel this. How often does the typical person switch their brands of beers?

The best part about the shutdown is that its revealing just how many govt departments we should shut down immediately

I'd be willing to bet the founder/CEO is a Democrat and anti-Trump, because...
This just keeps them from expanding their R&D and putting out new flavors; this would have nothing to do with their current production and ability to make beer flavors that are already out in market. Manufactured Crisis

Are there really that many new labels coming out every day that are so popular it equates to tens of millions?
Not sure I buy that, nor do I really care...just like with the "struggling" federal employees...it's something you should plan for.
With that said, this is definitely part of the government that is bloated and should be reduced/cut out.
