They should have planned better. They have known for quite some time that they were going to be making these batches...they should have submitted the labels for review earlier.

This is how stupid the ATF is when it comes to alcohol labels.
A couple of decades ago, a winery in California called Bonny Doon wanted to release an ice wine. Ice wine is traditionally made by allowing the grapes to freeze on the vine, harvesting them while still frozen and immediately pressing them before they unfreeze. This concentrates the juice because a lot of the water is left behind as ice in the berries. This makes for a stronger, sweeter dessert wine. However, in California it doesn't freeze like it does in Germany so Bonny Doon found a huge commercial freezer that they froze the grapes in before they pressed them.
So the winery submits a label to the ATF for approval and on the label it describes the wine as an Ice Wine. The ATF rejected the label because the berries weren't left on the vine to freeze as in the traditional method. Bonny Doon submitted another label, this time calling the wine a Vin de Glacière (which in French means...wait for it....ice wine) and the ATF approved it, no problem.
