Why is the Nicholson exit on I-10 being moved?

It's being moved from Terrace to Oklahoma street.
It's not a big, expensive project, but it doesn't really seem necessary. Anyone know if there is a traffic flow related justification for doing this?

The Department of Transportation and Development wants to move an I-10 exit ramp near downtown Baton Rouge, along with bringing some major changes to Nicholson Drive.
According to DOTD, the department is holding a public meeting Thursday evening to discuss the proposal.
The plan includes relocating the I-10 East exit ramp that feeds into Terrace Street so that it would instead feed into Oklahoma Street. The proposal also includes changes to Nicholson Drive between South Boulevard and West Chimes Street. These changes include a subsurface drainage system, sidewalks and access management systems all along that stretch of highway, and repairs to the pavement.

Well, looks like all these studies are finally paying off.

I hope that is just the ramp to exit for Nicholson and they are leaving the ramp at Highland where you can turn left onto Terrace. If they aren't, that will be a huge issue.

Because they have money to burn and they have to keep up with the long standing LA tradition of wasting money on unnecessary projects while simultaneously ignoring the major problems.

Oklahoma goes straight into River Road. That’s the only thing I can think of. Still, seems like a waste of money.

which major problems should be addressed first?

Seems like if that were the reason it would be cheaper to extend Terrace a few 100' and cross the RR tracks.

Right. That will cause more issues with people trying to get back to Terrace to get through that neighborhood and over to Park.

You are given a budget, if you do not use 100% of that budget you get less budget next year. Common sense would tell you that is say, you save 30% of your budget and use 70% of it one year, you should be able to use that 30% the next year on say a bigger project. But no....you lose it.
The government is arse backwards. and the Retards working for them see no need to blow the whistle or try to make a change.

They have never broken tradition

Because the new CPRA is right there and that is going to be a traffic nightmare soon. LPAA being there as well doesn't help.
This one is valid.

I would hope so. However, I don't see the reason to move the exit anyway. Would they just make one exit to Highland and use the clearing to make an exit onto Oklahoma?

Or how about the major surface roads that need a massive overhaul. Bluebonnet between 10 and Perkins is terrible. College is terrible also.

Our state sucks with wasting money. Just a few years ago the DOTD decided to take down the green highway signs to change the font and now they want to change the font back to the original
