It is not, I assure you. I work on the south shore.

I went down I-12 headed east early Saturday afternoon and was surprised at how much traffic was and how slow it was through the Covington area.
Like I said, the roadways over the rivers are huge bottlenecks and present the greatest problems. It typically looks worse than it actually is though

It sucks i leave early and get back early so it dosent effect me but my wife wants to move every after noon merging on 12 from 190, becasuse highway 22 is worse.
I swear that a barrier set up in the merge on to 12 from 190 would solve this problem.

1. The infrastructure sucks and can't handle the population.
2. The north shore is for quitters.

There are a ton of infrastructure upgrades in progress (Hwy 22, Hwy 190) underway with more planned (bridge @I12) it's just the improvements are about a decade behind the population boom. If you can avoid Madisonville via 22 during a bridge opening and 190 @I12 during rush hour it's not really that bad

Too many people have moved from the south side of the lake and other areas. Squirrel hunting on our property on LA 1077 has become a useless pursuit during weekday rush hour because it's so noisy you can't hear the squirrels because of the traffic.

Covington is the worst, You might as well be driving through a metropolis of 5 million people
Where is this horrible traffic you speak of? 190 is only bad from 4-6pm on weekdays. I-12 may slow down but is never stopped BR style unless there is a wreck. I live off HWY 25 and work off of HWY 59. I take 190 to work in the mornings and 12 home in the afternoons without issue 90% of the time.

Major river and tributaries running between everything that has only a few crossings. Everyone is forced to go down 1 or 2 roads. It wasn’t a big deal until the population boom and now it’s too late

You can blame Mike Cooper for the slow move from the Bogue Falaya Bridge to Hwy 25. He was head of the planning board when the Savanah's was getting approval and whatever else was built on the Hwy 25/ 190 area.

Roundabouts are coming and seem to be helping the in places they are built. They are building one on 59 and Sharp and the one at ArchBishop Hannan high school is working well. Others are being built on 59 as well.

i'm not sure neither. There are only a couple spots that are stupid to get through at 5 o clock and the rest of life is not bad at all.

I feel bad for anyone who has to get onto I-12 westbound from hwy 190 during afternoon commute.
BUT... Am I alone in noticing the traffic has gotten much better the past couple weeks from 190 across the bridge southbound past the interstate heading to Mandeville/causeway? Has only taken me between 10-15 minutes each day when it used to take half an hour on a bad day to get from the bridge to the interstate underpass. Once the construction is cleared Im hoping traffic is even more improved.

Metairie Nola commute is pretty easy unless you have to get to the westbank after 5. It has gotten noticeably worse over the past few years but still nothing to complain about IMO.
Even in the mornings going downtown, if traffic is bad you can just hop off on Canal and it takes about 25 minutes tops

Youre not the only one.
Its almost like the superstreet setup for 190 is working.
Now they just need to replace the damn bridge over the river and it would be alright.

Huh? It's not even done yet, it's still just half a traffic circle and uses a red light, at least that was the case a few days ago

The new stuff they are doing on Hwy 22 by the Fresh Market is absolute shite. One lane to go straight, one to turn right, and one for left. It is a horrendous design if thats final. But I just moved from up there.

Bingo.....if you are developer or a builder and willing to pay the nominal fees, you have parish officials that will put on their knee pads and service you for whatever you want.

With out major roads being connected in a grid like pattern,
Yep and with development on either side of the Tchefuncte( 190 and Hwy 21) and only 2 bridges between I-12 and Folsom over the river it will get worse especially on I -12....Plus the people over there believe things are just good enough right now...although Pat Brister has been fighting to expand to 3 lanes either way from Goodbee to 1088.

How would you know? It isnt even complete yet and they still have a light. At this point its worse because people who want to go straight are in a single line behind people trying to turn left onto Sharp from 59.

My bad. This is one of those times where I was typing and thinking something different. I was thinking of the one at Hannan high working well and talking about the on at Sharp and 59. I should really think more before I type.

Southeast Louisiana just completely missed the how to design roads class.
