maybe you should stop hanging out with trashy single women with dogs?

my fiance's greyhound is trained on a military level.

lay down: lays down
bow: bows
go pee: will piss air just to be obedient
bed: goes to her bed.
wait: stands there lifeless until told to move

no treat needed. just does because she's scared shitless my old lady will beat the hell out of her. she also tells us when she is hungry and when she needs to go outside by standing by her bowl or the door. no whining. no crying. just patient and quiet. seems more like a you problem.

is that why kids are so terrible today. single mothers?

Adam Carolla had a segment in one of his podcasts saying that most of the ills of society can be directly traced to kids raised by single mothers- he broke it down pretty well and I couldn't argue with his reasoning.

I have a good friend and years ago when her two boys were teenagers these kids were disrespectful punks- they mouthed off to her constantly and treated girls like crap, although they were very respectful to me. One day I addressed it with her and told her the story of my dad telling me and my brother when we were young that his main goal as a father was to raise kids who contributed to society instead of taking from it and not to raise douchebags. I asked her if she thought she raised douchebags and she couldn't answer me but she knew the answer. To be fair, her ex was part of the problem, he was barely visible and even then only when it benefited him. Some sucker married her and now one of the kids is in and out of jail and father of two kids from two different women and the other is battling drug and alcohol issues and also has a rap sheet

My ex-gf raised an amazing lab, I would say usually that it may just be the dog, but she is an awesome dog mom.

You are a fricking moron...first of all, you can't even form a complete sentence....second, my very well trained therapy dog was not only trained by this single woman, but my professional dog trainer was a single woman. Oh, and my kids are very well behaved as well. Both dogs and kids get consequences for not listening, and neither the dogs, nor the kids, piss on my floor. Your generalizations make you look very stupid.

This thread seems like a good place for this.

So, I go out to eat/drinks for a girl's birthday the other night, and it was on a patio that welcomes dogs. Well, this one chick brings her dog, and this girl reaches down to pet it, and the dog sees another dog on the other side of her chair and the dog gets aggressive with the girl. The girl then announces the fog is kind of mean. Then after the dog sees all these other dogs, he becomes uncontrollable and she has to put him in the car.

Like wtf, if your dog is known to mean around dogs or in general, don't bring him to a fricking public place.

You don't really need to scream at dog or spank it to housebreak it. It's actually pretty easy to do so long as you use training treats and a crate to get them to behave the way you want. If you have patience and are consistent you should have your pup trained in month no sweat. Once you get them to do right you can ween them off treats. Soon enough they won't need them anymore and will just be happy to be told good boy/girl when they behave.

Most people simply just don't what you are supposed to do and that's why so many have poorly trained pets.

I get where you are coming from but it's important to bring a dog out to interact w/people and other pets early on if you want them to be sociable and not go nuts whenever they meet a new animal or person.

Not saying that's what she was attempting to do but if you never take your dog out it's never going to learn.

The same reason people complain that I'm "too tough" on my dog by teaching her commands and not allowing her to jump up on people. I love my dog, but at the end of the day she's a goddamn dog not a human being.

I meant this as a most people suck at training their dogs post.

Well, to be fair, it's usually best if human beings also learn commands and don't jump up on people.
