Trump has been a major proponent for the vaccine and even got it himself, I believe.

Nah. In reality, not the one made up in your head, Joe and his woman told people not to get it. They spent the better part of a year undermining and shitting all over it. They sold fear to make their political opponent look bad. Now, they are shocked that people aren't listening to them when they say it is perfectly safe and they should get it, which they are also only doing for political expediency.

Delta variant has an R0 of 6-7 so you're at least starting to get into the discussion for the transmission rate of the one contagious disease on youngsters that all others are judged against...Chicken Pox at R0 of 10-12.

Delta is good at getting in, making a bunch of virus, and spewing those out. Plus, it does it faster.
Pretty obvious reason for the spike.
Luckily between the vaccines and delta at least not being more dangerous (if not less dangerous but the data isn't there to completely support that yet to my understanding)...
We're not seeing near the hospitalizations and deaths as previous surges.

But it does protect you from the virus. In that it prevents a severe case that requires hospitalization or can kill you.
If you thought the vaccines would completely stop you from getting the virus, you should’ve paid better attention in science class. It’s the same mechanism as the polio vaccine. It doesn’t stop you from contracting it but it does decrease the viral load (which slows the spread as well).

This virus will never go away. It will keep mutating. We need to learn to deal with it. Closing things down, masking up is not going to work.
I also think that cases are not spiking. They are trying to put fear in all of us again. Next will be the Lambda variant, and so on and so forth. Maybe if they would just stop fricking talk about it, everyone can get on with their lives but no the bloodsucking political scum, the media and the "doctors" like Fauci and others keep pushing the fear.
Take care of yourself, eat healthy, get out in the sun, get off the news.
