Not made up unfortunately at least anecdotally here in south Florida. We had 2-3 a month ago and are about to hit 35 in our hospital. Only 2 in icu and 2 in pcu though. At our peak we were low 40s in the hospital.

It seems reasonable to this point, especially since we can bring in other countries data in too. It also helps that these numbers follow extra contagious version of the virus with a population with vaccine protection (and immunity protection from infection). Catching cases, but with a quarter of the severe impacts.
If the data starts to turn, then we have to reconsider the hypothesis.
