Surprisingly, Rayne is not a bad looking town.. I think most of the small towns on the I-10 corridor have a better chance of surviving than towns that are off the grid, like Ville Platte and Opelousas.. especially since I-49 opened

I am being 100% serious:

And no loop of any kind?

I49 countless years away from being interstate grade?

Have you visited each? If not, do so and the reason will become obvious.

Lafayette has 0 miles of 6 laned interstate. What is this... a city for ants?

Lake Charles on the other hand has 25 miles.

Once the plant is built in Lake Charles will be interesting to see the population numbers. I'm guessing a lot of the workers have moved to LC for 3-4 years for the build then will move somewhere else.

Probably because the heavy industries are turning places like West Calcasieu into a industrialized area only and slowly pushing everyone who's not living in an incorporated area out of the parish. Calcasieu Police Jury wants that tax money...not now..but in 10 years once the tax incentives have gone...problem is..they don't know if the industries will still be there.

Sure- If they are included in those numbers.
Lots of transient construction workers will leave, but a number of them will be replaced by more permanent employees along with families.

LC will never catch Lafayette, but I don't think most in LC want to. It's more land locked with good fishing/hunting areas and the huge swath of marshland, Cameron Parish, to the south.

Lake Charles area (especially the unincorporated portion south of Lake Chuck city limits) has grown lot in the past 2-3 years. Your chart doesn't have any info after 2010.

Demographics. Once the educated younger class leaves, you’re left with a massive criminal and government assistance underclass and a few handfuls of rich old families

I don’t know where you got your numbers but LC’s economy is booming compared to Lafayette. Tons of jobs. Traffic issues are increasing that’s a sign of growth. Whether it’s in Lc proper or not.

To be fair, Lafayette proper is much more pleasant to live in than LC proper. We’ve got Opelousas and new Iberia to absorb our ghetto people.

Every dollar in the Lafayette budget needs to go toward building at least two more river crossings.. It's asinine that there are 4 choke points in a city this size

The NIMBYs rule the roost in Lafayette. See also I-49, South College extension, every loop ever proposed, etc.
