Shithole status?

They still have lots. Compared to what? Houston, Dallas or Atlanta? Of course there are less in comparison. Stupid thread.

And Paramore, and Pittbull, and Stapleton…

Eric Church.
I dont get the other posters arguement. There has been plenty of big concerts in NOLA over the past year and in the future year.

New Orleans used to be THE spot though. Every tour passed through New Orleans. Naming three doesn’t really negate the OP. (Note - I don’t know if OP is accurate or not)
Are we talking like 30 years ago?
Because it’s still on a bunch. Should I add Drake and Beyoncé dates to the Garth show for September alone?
For a market this size it does pretty well.
Coming out of the summer lull is probably part of the issue of feeling left out.
There’s a little bit of a gap with radio station support locally that probably impacts negatively a little bit
Since getting the Fillmore there’s a true venue for a lot of the bigger than theatre but not arena shows and that’s helped a lot

I mean, rock hasn't been what it was in a while.
Even the 2000's rock/emo had enough small bands that had to get in dates to make money.
That's true about rock, but even when the biggest acts who still draw huge crowds like Guns n Roses and U2 played the Dome in the last 5 years or so, the attendance was about 33,000-34,000. Those are still impressive numbers for a concert, but that was easily the smallest show U2 played in the states and one of the smallest for Guns N Roses.
Overall though, N.O. has been doing pretty well with big acts across genres.

Need more mid-tier acts that play something like Lakefront arena.
Is a terrible venue. Which was one of the gaps in the market. The Fillmore helps a lot. Champion square has gotten a little.
We just don’t have the classic northern states seated up front, lawn behind outdoor venue that snags the summer shows of 5-15k attendees. And for good reason.

Yeah, because it’s never a good time for sn outdoor concert in New Orleans

Sum 41, The Used, and Bad Omens came through in the last month and had sold out crowds. Coheed and Cambria, All Time Low, Blue October, and Bullet for My Valentine are coming within the next 2 months.

quote:When I was at LSU in the 80s I heard from a NO promoter that shows bypassed NO due to the city's 5% entertainment tax "to pay for welfare" (his words), and this was why so many acts played the MS Gulf Coast arena (a fact that had always puzzled me).
New Orleans used to be THE spot though. Every tour passed through New Orleans
I don't know if this tax is still in effect.

Because there was an instance where a famous rapper got shot and killed on the night before his concert. Happened last year I think.
So a rapper gets shot and no acts want to come to NOLA? This is your dumbass theory?

This board is showing its age or ignorance. New Orleans has never been a “major”stop for mega-music tours. That doesn’t mean there isn’t one on occasion. The largest venue, the Superdome, has never been known for its acoustics and is a good reason for overlooking NOLA, although newer technology has seemed to help that problem.
Hell, I saw Queen in BTR.

Yeah it is my opinion, dipshit. The case got national news too. The crime in NOLA is getting so bad that it’s deterring celebrities/singers from performing there. Shocking it isn’t? Oh wait I forgot you’re one of those dumbass motherfrickers who will vehemently defend NOLA no matter what.
No offense, but no one wants to perform at your precious city because they think it’s a fricking shithole and don’t want to put their lives at risk.

Take a wild guess............

As I pointed out. NO was often bypassed for the MS GC or BR (b/c of LSU)
Though the Beatles played Tad Gormley in NO, FWIW

I’ve tried to image what it would be like if Peej packed up his mobile home and moved to the Woodlands. Thanks to you we don’t have to imagine anymore.
