This is about a casino in Slidell, not Mandeville. Although it will benefit the entire parish, I don’t understand why Mandeville people are against it.
Because Mand-inton-Springs are full of yuppy douchebags that are afraid their crappy subdivision in the swamp won't benefit directly from this, so they don't mind turning down because they don't see the growing blight that's all over Slidell. How dare any money be spent on the east side of the parish when Jaxton, Braxton, Jayden, and Alexis all have travel ball world series tournaments in the western half?!

There’s hardly shite in at Tammany parish for travel ball tournaments. They have to travel to Livingston, MS coast, and Baton Rouge for tournament, let that shite sink in

This. Freaking Kenner sent lawyers and representatives to the state house to try and get this stopped a few years back. Said it would hurt their casino. Seriosly

Is that going to happen? Wouldn’t those types of people just go/stay in New Orleans?

Not affiliated with republicans because I don't care if you drink coke or pepsi. But you really think people are going to leave New Orleans to go drink and gamble in Slidell and then... go back to New Orleans?

That's probably the dumbest part of this thread.

Even if people were going to do that (they 100% won't), most people in St. Tammany moved here to get away from New Orleans trash. I thought that was common knowledge to everyone.

Can someone fill me in? I keep seeing the casi-no! signs everywhere. Is it a religious thing? If Republicans think gambling is immoral then they can just…. not gamble. Seems pretty simple to me.

Is there a better justification than Republicans fighting against something for religious reasons instead of letting adults make their own decisions that don’t effect them?

why do you libertarian dorks love to act like what happens in a community doesn't affect its residents? or are you really so dumb that you think it's a religious/moral thing?

Have you seen the sort of folks that go to L’auberge now?

It was nice at first and now it’s all those we don’t speak of folks in there bow

You've never heard of the Abita Hippies? It's easily 90% GOP and they are not conservative except for being anti IRS.

On paper it sounds like an amazing idea. Nice landscape, nice restaurants, shows, tax money, etc.

You have a land based casino 25 miles away in the middle of a popular tourist destination. Is a high income tourist going to come to Louisiana to stay in Slidell?

Then you have all the casino resorts in Biloxi which is more accessible for Alabama, Florida, Georgia.

So who is left to visit? Someone from Houston? It's easier to go to Lake Charles, or they would rather go to New Orleans to do more in addition to the casino.

Long term it will gravitate to slums.

I was strongly for the casino as I am a degenerate but someone on here posted a link with a bunch of reasons to be against it and it actually swayed me to no
